Hinds' Feet on High Places

Hannah Hurnard

This illustrated version of the timeless classic has been arranged by Dian Layton and beautifully illustrated by JoAnn Edington. It tells the story of Much-Afraid and her journey to the High Places with the Shepherd. Filled with exciting adventure and a triumphant conclusion, this story will teach young children the importance of following the Shepherd.

Hannah Hurnard suffered from many fears and phobias. She even developed a stuttering problem that got worse when she had to speak in front of strangers. By the time she was 19, Hannah was deeply depressed. She even considered suicide, but her fears prevented her. God received the sacrifice of Hannah s speech problem and used it for His glory. He took away her stuttering, so that she was able to share the gospel with others clearly. The Bible became a treasure and a delight even though she continued to wrestle with a spirit of fear. Over time, however, Hannah found deliverance as she continued to follow the Lord in obedience. Later, she was to write the best selling Hinds' Feet on High Places as a result of her experiences with the Lord. She went to Israel as a missionary to the Jews in 1932, and lived there through the war for independence in 1948. In Israel, she served as a housekeeper in a hospital--a kind of work she had detested before her surrender, but now loved.

Mirror of Christian Walk
5 stars By Charissa , Nov 22 2016
This book mirrors the Christian life in various ways. Just like Much-Afraid we are challenged to follow the Shepherd to the High Places but also like her we sometimes quail with fright and wonder what He is doing! This book is an encouragement for anyone like Much-Afraid who knows they can trust the Shepherd but at times wonder whether they will ever reach the High Places.

Essential Read
5 stars By Shaarn, Nov 23 2015
For anyone struggling to know whether they are making any progress or whether their fear is getting in the way to really being led by God and not letting other peoples' attitudes quash their little bit of courage....this is guaranteed to give you incite not only on your journey to finding the real you, but to realise no matter how you feel, our Good Shepherd will never leave us because He loves us so much! Such an encouraging book. I couldn't put it down once I got into it...

Must have on any Christian's Bookshelf
5 stars By anna, Dec 25 2014
Written in the style John Bunyan's Pilgrim's Progress, this book is (in my opinion) just as challenging and perhaps easier to read. There are lessons for every believer within the pages of this book, A must read for every Christian

best book ever
5 stars By marj, Jun 11 2013
hinds' feet is the best book I've ever read. it focuses on the journey of the main character "much afraid". it's an easy read book that anyone can relate to in regards to their spiritual journeywalk with God. even my 6 year old daughter was able to understand the book ( at her level of understanding) and relate it with her struggles. I think it made her feel less alone knowing she is not the only one going through things in life.
