George Whitefield: The Evangelist
4 stars By Michael H, Jun 28 2013
George Whitefield is one of the most remarkable men in church history. This biography captures the passion and energy of this amazing man, while still showing some of his weaknesses and shortcomings. This book shows the important events leading up to Whitefield's conversion and how they help shape his future ministry. His relentless desire to preach the gospel to anyone, whether in churches or in fields, and his pastoral heart are clearly seen in his preaching and in his dealings with all people. It seems that the author has done an excellent job in portraying Whitefield in an accurate way without getting bogged down in unnecessary theological debates. The book demonstrates how mightily God used this humble man to bring revival to England and America. Having read this biography, I am now very interested in reading some of the sermons that impacted his listeners so greatly.
