So much more than a fishing story
5 stars By Margot, Sep 30 2016
Talk about mix-ups and mixed messages. Abby has loved Ross forever, but he thinks she was in love with his brother, Scotty, who died years ago. Now Ross is running they run rival youth groups that end up challenging each other to enter the Deep Haven fishing competition. this takes us back to any Susan May Warren fan's favourite place - Deep Haven, Missouri.
Abby is determined to win. With humour, romance and the natural beauty if the setting, Susan takes the reader on a wonderful faith journey as we watch the main players learn the importance of seeing themselves through God's eyes.
And it all comes in a short novella - so worth the read.

Sweet Novella
4 stars By Jacqui, Oct 09 2015
This is a sweet novella that fits between the first and second Deep Haven books, although you don't have to have read the first book to enjoy this one. Abby and Ross, the main characters, are youth leaders who enter a fishing contest with their youth groups at the wilderness camp ground. The have a history together which complicates things. I loved their different temperaments and how Susan May Warren developed them. It was fun to go through each day of the competition with them and wonder what the end of each day would bring. This is a real feel good story.

Enjoyable Deep Haven Novella
5 stars By Iola, Oct 06 2011
Abby Cushman has been in love with Ross Springer for as long as she can remember, hanging with Ross and his older brother, Scotty. And Ross once told her he loved her too, but that was before Scotty died, before he worked out that Abby and Scotty had been a couple on the Bethel College campus. Now Ross runs the New Life Christian group at Bethel while completing his senior year, even though he is three years older than the other seniors. Meanwhile, Abby is completing her PhD in Greek, running the Sojourners Bible study and resenting Ross for being a girl-magnet who all but ignores her. Friendly rivalry between the New Life and Sojourners groups leads to a challenge to enter the Deep Haven fishing competition in the lakes around Deep Haven, Missouri, a competition which Abby is determined to win.

Hook, Line and Sinker is an enjoyable novella based on a simple misunderstanding, yet still touches on issues of how we see ourselves and how others see us. Hook, Line and Sinker has all the charm of the other Deep Haven books, in a smaller package. And how can you not like a romance series where the first book is called Happily Ever After?
