I would recommend this lovely book for all young readers, even those older than Grade 1. It has lovely illustrations and each page features a different ethnicity and the grandma's also have different looks, for example, some have short hair, others have long hair pulled back, and they all vary in age. The words all rhyme, which is very comforting for young kids and keeps even little ones more interested. They discuss going for a walk or to the park with grandma, or sitting on the porch and having a nice talk. It also features "long distance" grandmas who are glad when "you send me a card--or paint me a picture, which shows you've tried hard". One child is even in a wheelchair, so it could be fitting for children with special needs. It mentions praying--"I'm glad I'm your grandma... "when talking to God you have plenty to say". The final page of the book declares lovingly, " But most of all, I'm glad I'm your grandma just because you're you. You're Gods wonderful gift to me!" So I believe this book would be well received among most non-Christian families, as it only has those "Christian lines" (that I wrote) mentioned in the book. I recommend this book without hesitation to all who have grandchildren!
