An enjoyable book to read on holidays. Good story but a little slow going.

This story is SLOW. The idea is not bad, but the author spent to much time on details that are boring and not that important. I felt like the author was filling pages with atleast something. Maybe the next book is better? Good luck

In POSTCARDS FROM PULLMAN #01 IN THE COMPANY OF SECRETS, Olivia Mott, a young servant girl, finds herself in an unwanted predicament. Harassed by the head chef of her employers Lady and Lord Spencer, she is threatened with ruin if she refuses his advances. Finding no other alternative suitable, Olivia decides to flee her life in England and begin afresh in America. However, her plans go awry when spoilt daughter, Lady Charlotte Spencer, insists on accompanying her in an effort to hide an unplanned pregnancy. Promising Olivia a much needed letter of recommendation, forged to look like her mother's hand, Olivia sees no other alternative but to comply. In order to hide her deception, and Lady Charlotte's shameful predicament, Olivia is plunged into a web of lies that become ever more complicated as time goes on, especially when she settles in the small confined community of Pullman - a town which harbour secrets of its own. The reader is pulled into this complicated web of lies, and journeys with Olivia into the ever-increasing uneasiness that accompanies false truths. Interest is further piqued as the reader seeks to discover the truth of the town. Judith Miller aptly portrays the demise of Olivia's moral standard as a little white lie snowballs into a mountain of mistruths. The novel drew me in and kept me interested the whole way through. The characters were lifelike and realistic, and accurately portrayed the complexities of humanity, and the effects of sin no matter how seemingly trivial. The completion of this book leaves the readers with some questions answered, but many are left hanging, obviously to be addressed in the following sequel/s.
