Years of bouncing from one foster care home to another have left Mason Jones (Patrick Davis) feeling unwanted and unloved. When the 17-year-old moves in with the Lewis family (Pete Freeland & Robyn Lively), they seem just like all of his previous foster parents: middle-aged, one child, and called by God to his change his life. However, unlike the others, the Lewis family is determined to keep Mason around, despite the initial wishes of their son, Nate, who views taking Mason into their home as an attempt to replace their deceased son and brother, Jack.

With zero chances left and no other options than being locked up in juvenile detention, Mason starts attending a court mandated support group. There, he finds a surprise ally in the pastor's daughter, Lacey (Jeannette Grout), and learns important life lessons about humility, respect, and fresh starts.

Too Legalistic
1 stars By Pastor Steve, Aug 03 2015
I liked the sound of this movie as it is about a hot topic in that of fostering kids. The only trouble is that this movie failed to deliver. I think this movie focuses too much on respecting the ten commandments and not enough on grace. The purpose of the law was discussed in this movie and totally misleads a person to think that one has to obey the law simply so that we show respect to God and others. What about showing grace? There were snippets of grace shown throughout the movie which was good by the brother and shop owner. But what about the true purpose of the law to show people that they are sinners. Smacks of works. No wonder the poor kid in the movie felt ostracised by judgmental Christians including the pastor and the small group leader. The acting is B grade too.

Give this one a miss if you want non-Christians to understand the gospel. Also didn't like the introduction from the preacher in the pulpit. Totally gives a rigid, traditional view of church.
