A solid read
3 stars By Jessica R. Wakefield, Jul 01 2013
This book intrigued me and I found myself drawn in from the beginning but a little confused though. It wasn't until several pages in that I was able to figure out the assortment of character POVs (Point Of Views).

After this, the book seemed to take a few turns and to be honest my confusion continued as the book went along. There are a few minor characters that make appearances and left me wondering what their purpose in the book is. This is the start of a three book series, so it's logical to assume that these minor characters will make major appearances in the next books. Still, I was confused.

What this book does well is action - there's a lot of it! It leaves you wondering how it's all going to pan out. At about half way through the book, the mystery seems almost solved and I had no idea what was coming next - a very good thing from a reader's point of view!

The main characters, Remington and Rafe are interesting people. I must say that for an FBI Agent with ten years experience, Rafe is a little slow to catch onto a major clue when everyone around him has figured it out. Besides that, Rafe is a man trying to get ahead in his job, but making sacrifices that might hinder that by putting his best friend first in his life. He's protective of his family and is cares for those in need of justice.

Remington is for much of the book a mystery woman. I felt that I didn't get to know her as much as I'd have liked. She is tenacious, careful with a sadistic sense of humour, is loyal and has known much heartache over the years, but I still felt like I needed to know more. You'll understand when you read the book.

I did not love this book, but liked it enough to complete the series. I am looking forward to seeing where this series goes.
