Meet the Author

Dee Henderson

Pastor's daughter Dee Henderson is a lifelong resident of Illinois, USA, and currently resides in Springfield. She believes that marketing books should be about the stories rather than the writer, so she keeps a low profile compared to many authors. Her background is in mathematics and computing science (B.Sc 1988) and she had a high paying job as an engineer before she moved into full-time writing in 1996. Her technical expertise has given her an unusually keen insight into the structural aspects of storytelling. The results are plain to see; since 1999, Dee has produced two bestselling fiction series - the acclaimed O'Malley series and Uncommon Heroes - as well as eleven stand-alone titles.

Dee's books brilliantly mix suspense and romance, and her characters undergo varied and interesting faith journeys that are integrated skillfully into the storylines. Dee's work has won or been nominated for several prestigious industry awards including the RWA's RITA Award, the Christy Award, the ECPA Gold Medallion, the Holt Medallion, the National Readers' Choice Award, and the Golden Quill.

I found it was a valuable and good read if you intend to read the whole O'Malley series. HOwever as a stand alone it would be boring.
It provides a good insight into the family and how they operate and function as a unit despite their upbringing

Lovely
4 stars By Trudy, Sep 08 2016
This was a lovely introduction to add to the O'Malley series. If you were just starting out to read the O'Malley series, I would actually recommend reading this book last, because despite the fact its a 'prequel' its more of a summary and scene setter, so you would need to read the other books in order to get captured up with the series and hooked. A great prequel though to define the Jennifer more.

Lovin it!
5 stars By Boo, Mar 25 2014
Dee Henderson is my favourite author. Her stories are realistic, interesting and have just the right amount of Christianity and romance. This book is no different, although maybe a little more sad then the other O'malley books. I still loved it and would recomend it to any suspense romance lover!

Short, predictable, buy a must-read for O'Malley fans
4 stars By Iola, May 17 2013
Jennifer O'Malley is a doctor specialising in pediatric oncology. She meets Tom Petersen, a handsome young surgeon in the same Houston hospital, and they become friends. As they get to know each other and explore the possibility of a closer relationship, Jennifer also has to come to terms with Tom's Christian faith.

Jennifer is a very quick read - only 160 pages, approximately half the length of a regular novel (although I notice it's currently priced as a full-length novel). Fans of the O'Malley series will want to read this, even though it's entirely predictable. Those who haven't yet had the pleasure of the O'Malley stories should start with Jennifer.

For anyone who has read any of the O'Malley series, this story was always going to be bittersweet, because the later O'Malley books made told us how the three main plot points were going to develop over time. Even so, it is good to finally get Jennifer's story, because of her disproportionate impact on the whole O'Malley saga.
