About "Kemi's Journal"
This is the spiritual journal of Kemi, a young professional high-flier who has been a Christian for a year. Kemi faces struggles in her career and within her mixed race family - but most notably with her feelings for her former non-believing boyfriend. In a moment of weakness she sleeps with Zack and then has to deal with the resulting unplanned pregnancy, considering something she never dreamed she might contemplate: abortion. She also considers abandoning her faith, feeling her actions have brought her under God's condemnation and beyond forgiveness. Though she estranges herself from church, she doesn't stop writing her journal and reflecting on her Bible verse for each day. Abidemi says of her novel, 'It is a call to people who've turned their back on their faith and also for Christians who are struggling with sin. Abidemi Sanusi was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and has a deep interest in human rights. Her most recent novel, Eyo, was shortlisted for the 2010 Commonwealth Writers' Prize.
