Historical romance with a touch of mysterysuspense
4 stars By Margot , Apr 30 2018
Lady in the Mist is the first book in Laurie Alice Eakes' The Midwives series. It's also the first book I have read by this author, but it certainly won't be the last. She tells a great story, with historical accuracy and interest without reading like a history lesson.
The main character, Tabitha, faces many obstacles while trying to follow in her mother and grandmother's footsteps and become a midwife, even though she is not married and has no children of her own. Because of the privilege of her position, she knows many secrets, adding a great deal of intrigue and mystery to the story.
The male lead is Dominick, who vies with a former beau for Tabitha's romantic attentions and adds a touch of English aristocracy to the mix. It all made for an excellent read, which I recommend.

Action packed
4 stars By Louise, Jan 11 2013
Lovely historical romance set in the early 1800's. lots of action although I got a bit lost with some lengthy and at times repetitive descriptions of the dilemmas the characters were facing. Over all I enjoyed the book and will read the sequels.

Excellent read
5 stars By Audrey, Dec 27 2012
I really enjoyed reading this book. The moral of the story where very consistent and had me thinking of my own attitude towards God when things happen in my life.
This was the first time that I have read a book by this author and I definitely will search for more of her books. In fact the sequals to this book look equally interesting and I would love to read them as well.
