Drama based on Karen Kingsbury's bestseller about adoptive parents who go to desperate lengths to keep their son in the face of judicial blindness.

Jack and Molly Campbell are right where they want to be, enjoying an idyllic life with their four-year-old son Joey, and the close family and friends who live in their small hometown just outside Atlanta. Then the phone call comes from the social worker the Campbells never expected to hear from again. Three states away in Ohio, Joey's biological father has just been released from prison. He is ready to start life over, but not without his son.
A judge's quick decision deals a devastating blow to the Campbell family: Joey must be returned to his biological parents. The day after the ruling, in the silent haze of grief and utter disbelief, they watch their son pick a dandelion and blow the feathery seeds into the wind.
In the days that follow the ruling, Jack Campbell has a desperate and dangerous thought. What if they can devise a way out? Then they could take Joey and simply disappear... like dandelion dust.

Okay
3 stars By SaraJ, Aug 18 2012
I read Karen Kingsbury's Like Dandelion Dust and loved it. However, I can't say the same thing about the movie. While the acting was great and the movie well made, it was not the 'Christian' movie it was made out to be. Sure, there is no swearing etc, but the main characters were all non-Christians and the Christian sister-in-law was not portrayed in a completely positive light. The movie does not follow to the book well at all.

not as good as book
3 stars By Gail :), Jul 26 2012
Whilst this is a well made and acted movie, it had left out the Christian themes that were so prevelant in the book. in fact the only Christian person in the movie was the sister and she wasn't portrayed in a very flattering light at all. I still enjoyed watching it and thought the adoption themes were well presented and the ending positive. Not as good as the book but still a good movie with nothing offensive in it and would appeal to most ages although not for younger ones.

Great movie
5 stars By Mel, Jul 05 2012
Like Dandelion Dust is a fantastic dvd. It kept me well involved with it the whole time. it is full of action, and would be a very moving movie especially to those that are foster parents. Although a bit of a tear jerker it was also very sweet. I love this movie, would have to say that it is one of my favourites. definitely recommend it to others.

Disappointing
1 stars By Michelle Trew, Jun 16 2011
In promotional material for the movie "The Grace Card" Koorong stated that "The release of Fireproof in 2009 has increased the expectation for premium Christian films to be viewed and accessed by a wide audience ... Five loaves Entertainment proudly releases "No Greater Love", "Like Dandelion Dust" and "The Grace Card" ...

I enjoyed "Fireproof" and would highly recommend it to a suitable Christian and non-Christian audience. It is entertainment with a solid biblical message. The main character (portrayed by Kirk Cameron) comes to faith in the Lord early on in the movie. He then tries to win his wife back by showing her the new creature he is in Christ.

So I was looking forward to watching "Like Danelion Dust" but was so very disappointed as I did not consider it to be a "Christian" movie by any definition of the word "Christian". Sure, there is no swearing and no sex, and for this I was grateful. (There was however violence and mature themes so I am not sure that the PG-13 rating would suit every parent). My main criticism is that none of the 4 main characters are portrayed as Christians and none of them come to faith in Christ as the movie unfolds. The adoptive mother has a sister who is a Christian but I felt that she was portrayed as unloving and legalistic when confronted with the reality that her sister was going to break the law and kidnap her adopted son while joining them on a mission trip to Haiti. There is also reference to a Roman Catholic "Father" who the birth parents end up deciding to get counselling from at the end of the movie.

I found the story line to be extremely emotionally draining. I felt that this would have been different if the adoptive parents had a Christian faith so they could turn to the Lord in their distress. But that would be a completely different plot ...

I'm sorry to say that I had to return this DVD to Koorong and I do not recommend it for any viewers who enjoyed "Fireproof", "Facing the Giants" and "Flywheel" as it is not similar to these fatih building movies at all.

The movie "Like Dandelion Dust" is based on a novel by Karen Kingsbury and so this also brought to my attention the content of a bestselling "Christian" fiction author.

I am waiting for another Sherwood Brothers movie to be made and released.

Great movie!
5 stars By Laura, Jun 14 2011
This is a great Christian movie. The acting and filming was high quality. It is one of those movies that doesn't shove Christianity down your throat - so it is a good movie to be able to share with non-Christian friends as well. I cried twice through it and was really moved by the story. Overall, a great movie. I highly recommend!
