Meet the Authors

Helen Taylor

HELEN L. TAYLOR, has carefully rewritten a centuries-old tale in order that children might be able to grasp the truths setý out by John Bunyan in 1678.ý JOHN BUNYAN, after years of dealing with his own inner struggles, gave his life to the Lord and spent the remainder ofý his life preaching and teaching truth without fear. Perhaps his greatest legacy is this work, The Pilgrim's Progress.ý

John Bunyan

John Bunyan (1628-1688) was born in Elstow, England, and his life was spared twice in his early years, something he believed God had done for a special purpose. In November 1660, when Bunyan arrived to preach in the little town of Lower Samsell, he was informed that a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Unwilling to denounce his Christian faith and his calling to the ministry, he was imprisoned for twelve years.

Among the many writings he published during his imprisonment are The Holy City; Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners; and the most famous, The Pilgrims Progress.

After his release, he became the pastor of a church in Bedord, England and continued to write and publish stirring works that have endured through time. Among these classics are The Holy War; Bunyan's Visions of Heaven and Hell and Journey to Hell: The Life and Death of Mr. Badman.

Very Good!
5 stars By Gee, Dec 29 2014
Yes, I grew up in one of those Christian homes with parents that made you read "Pilgrim's Progress" instead of other children's novels. There are many translations of "The Pilgrim's Progress", but if you are wanting your child to understand it and relate to it, you'll need to get them the most appropriate one for their age. "Little Pilgrim's Progress" is definitely the most worthwhile. I have read this myself at the age of 8, and I highly enjoyed it! It's a great buy!
