Based on Janette Oke's best-selling Canadian West series, and directed by Michael Landon, Jr., When Calls The Heart: Lost and Found tells the captivating story of Elizabeth Thatcher (Erin Krakow), a young teacher accustomed to her high society life, who receives her first classroom assignment in Coal Valley, a small coalmining town where life is simple, but often fraught with challenges.

Lori Loughlin plays Abigail Stanton, a wife and mother whose husband, the foreman of the mine, along with a dozen other miners, has just been killed in an explosion. The newly widowed women find their faith is tested when they must go to work in the mines to keep a roof over their heads. Elizabeth charms most everyone in Coal Valley, except Constable Jack Thornton (Daniel Lissing) who believes Thatcher's wealthy father has doomed the lawman's career by insisting he be assigned in town to protect the shipping magnate's daughter.

Living in a 19th century coal town, Elizabeth will have to learn the ways of the frontier if she wishes to thrive in the rural west on her own.

Good Movie
4 stars By Candid, Sep 03 2018
This movie has been well made and has believable characters.

The movie does not flow on well from the first in the series. They have rewritten the story line a bit so 1 2 do not match up and some of the circumstances have changed. However, the story line has the same meaning. The leading lady and pretty much 99% of the cast have changed actresses actors, however it doesn't do any harm to the movie characters.

It starts again with Miss Thatcher arriving 2 days late from her teaching position and convincing the towns' women that she is the lady for the job. Constable Jack Thornton is introduced and believes that he has been set up by Elizabeth's father, and this causes conflict between the two.

The towns' widowed women are given an eviction notice, they must try to find a way to save their homes which has the women headed into the mines themselves. Will this be enough to save their homes, will they be up to the hard labour that this entails or will they give up and leave the settlement?

I recommend this movie. I would still recommend the first movie, even with the differences. It gives more of a back story to where Elizabeth has come from, and how she made the decision to travel away from the safety of her family."

I really enjoyed watching this series and always looked forwards to when the next one came out! It has great characters who are both likeable but all have their own flaws too, is family friendly and has a great message.
In this episode, Elizabeth Thatcher arrives in Coal Valley to become a teacher. She has a steep learning curve as to what life is really like in a coal town. We see the different challenges she faces and how she begins to overcome them. We meet some key main characters and watch new relationships form.

LOVE IT!
5 stars By Bree, Feb 11 2018
I finally have a replacement for Little House on the Prairie. This movie is great for so many reasons- the scenery, the dresses, pioneer times. It also has funny parts and the characters are very well written. Appropriate for all ages.
