a new favourite movie
4 stars By Marija, Nov 14 2016
I was hesitant about purchasing this, since I was rather disappointed by the few other Janette Oke movies I have seen since they seem to be let down by unrealistic storylines and poor acting. However, I really enjoyed 'Love Comes Softly'. It was touching, it was sweet, it was funny, it was romantic - the perfect mix to make a really heartwarming, enjoyable movie. And it is made even better by a strong Christian theme about trusting in God even in the face of terrible circumstances and challenges.
I felt the acting was quite good - Katherine Heigl was convincing as a young, griefstricken widow thrust into a totally unfamiliar world, while the young actress playing her new step-daughter was impressive as a grieving child suddenly faced with a new mother. And the location deserves a mention, too - the scenery was breathtaking!
If you enjoyed movies such as 'Sarah Plain and Tall', then you will definately like 'Love Comes Softly'. I haven't read the original book, so I can't comment on accuracy, but it is definately now on my 'to read' list!

Good family movie
3 stars By Bryony, Jan 15 2016
In my opinion this movie and the rest in the series are let down by the fact that they are not very close to the books. If you do not mind that, then they are a great series of family movies.

Lovely Movie
4 stars By Helen W, Dec 29 2015
I have not read the books, but I really enjoyed this movie. I thought it was lovely and sweet, and quite well done. My young daughters also love to watch it so it's a favourite of ours on movie nights.

So Close To The Book
5 stars By Tash86, Nov 12 2015
I think out of the series, this one is my favourite because it's the closest adaption to the book. It's a story of loss and learning to love again through the strangest circumstances. Such a beautiful story.
