Description: Why does authentic spiritual formation elude us?

Growing up, Kyle Strobel knew all the "right" answers. The Christianity he experienced in the church was reduced to theological precepts and moral codes. He tried typical spiritual growth formulas, but faith remained stagnant, even stale. Sound familiar?

We all need a renewed vision. We need real change.

Metamorpha, derived from the ancient Greek word for "transformation," is the term Strobel uses for an intimate journey of spiritual formation through interaction with the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and community. Balanced between emerging and traditional thinking, Metamorpha:

^- questions preconceived beliefs and pursues truth
- seeks to understand the depth of Scripture
- fosters an intimate love relationship with God
- sees the Holy Spirit as a vital agent of change
- values authentic, transparent community
- is not a destination, but a journey

Author Information:
Kyle Strobel is a speaker, writer, and a practitioner of spiritual formation, discipleship, and community transformation. He has a masters in Philosophy of Religion and Ethics and another masters in New Testament from Talbot School of Theology. After doing further masters work in Spiritual Formation, Kyle has started his Ph.D. in theology at the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where Kyle and his wife Kelli currently reside. Endorsements: "Read . . . and morph!"
- John Ortberg

"What is written within these pages is by far the most important thing followers of Jesus can focus on, both for our own spiritual formation and for the collective health of the church at large. May we really pay attention to the wisdom within."
- Dan Kimball, author, The Emerging Church

"Kyle deconstructs some of our assumptions about the Bible, God's Spirit, and Christ's community in thought-provoking ways. But he doesn't stop there; he rebuilds a thoroughly biblical understanding that adds rich texture to living conformed to the image of Christ."
- John Burke, author, No Perfect People Allowed

"Metamorpha is a clarion call to the church to stop and evaluate our bumper-sticker, bullet-pointed, statistics-driven Christianity."
- Jonalyn Fincher, cofounder of Soulation; author, Ruby Slippers

In a rapidly changing world it is difficult to know how renew our vision of life. But that, according to Kyle Strobel, is the key to transformation in the Christian life and in the world. So how does one develop an orthodox worldview in the midst of a culture in flux? Metamorpha invites readers to look to the Bible, the Holy Spirit, and community as "informers" used by Christ to grow, mold, and form us into his image. Rather than taking a position on what view readers should have, Strobel helps Christians use these three informers to develop a vision of life that will both guide their ways of relating to the world and weather the winds of change.
