- Publisher Writings that touch the pure-flaming heart of God-from the men and women who walked with Him through the ages. . .guiding into a deeper friendship with the "Father of Lights." Jesus, the Captain of our salvation, waits to equip us for the frontline battles of spiritual warfare that rage over this world. How can we become tried and true "warriors in spirit" to win the battle for our own souls? And how can we help those around us who are surrendering hope, giving up on God, and falling? Andrew Murray was deeply engaged in this warfare for the lives and souls of men and discovered a source of spiritual power greater than all the darkness rising against him. Andrew Murray (1828-1917) accepted the challenge to take the light of Christ to an area of Africa known for its "wild dogs and wilder men." In the midst of personal weakness and physically grueling work, he was soon attacked by liberal church leaders who wanted to stop the true life of the Spirit from spreading. In the center of this opposition, Andrew discovered the new "fire" from heaven that ignited dark hearts and destroyed spiritual strongholds. The spiritual strength can be ours today as we surrender ourselves to be swords of power in the hand of God.

- Publisher Powerful devotional readings on the mighty outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the transforming impact He has upon a believer's life.

Meet the Author

Andrew Murray

South African pastor and author Andrew Murray, (1828-1917), one of four children was raised in the most remote corner of the world - Graaff-Reinet (near the Cape), South Africa, It was here, after his formal education in Scotland and three years of theological study,in Holland, that Andrew Murray returned as a missionary and minister. Murray's first appointment was to a remote and unattractive territory of nearly 50,000 square miles and 12,000 people.

In 1873, he helped to establish the Huguenot Seminary for girls. He also served as the first president of the Young Men's Christian Fellowship (YMCA).

Not only was Andrew Murray the author of over 240 books, he was also a man of great prayer. He began writing on the "deeper Christian life" - a favorite subject for Murray - for his congregation as an extension of his local pastoral work, but he became internationally known for his books, such as With Christ in the School of Prayerand Abide in Christ, that searched men's hearts and brought them into a deep relationship with Christ. Writing with an intensity of purpose and zeal for the message of the Gospel, Murray wrote numerous books even after his retirement at age seventy-eight. .- Publisher.
