Meet the Author

Timothy J Keller

Timothy Keller was born in Pennsylvania and educated at Bucknell University, Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and Westminster Theological Seminary. He became a Christian at university, was ordained by the Presbyterian Church in America and worked as a pastor for nine years.

He was asked to start Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhatten, New York in 1989, and under his leadership the church's congregation experienced unprecedented growth from 50 to 5000 members. His target audience consists mainly of urban professionals, whom he believes exhibit disproportionate influence over the culture and its ideas.

The "Influentials" Issue of New York Magazine featured Dr. Keller as "the most successful Christian evangelist in the city by recognising that young professionals and artists are "disproportionately influential" in creating the country's culture and that you have to meet this coveted demographic on its own terms."

Timothy Keller is renowned for his clear, reasoned approach to Christian apologetics and his book THE REASON FOR GOD: BELIEF IN AN AGE OF SKEPTICISM was named Book of the Year for 2008 by World Magazine.

His other books/and or courses include: Ministries of Mercy: The Call of the Jericho Road; Counterfeit Gods, The Prodigal God and Generous Justice.

Timothy Keller lives in New York City with his wife Kathy and sons David, Michael and Jonathan.

Handy Devotional
3 stars By Jo, Jan 04 2017
I read through this in 2016. His brief explanations were a good guide for meditation.

Thoughtful and Helpful
4 stars By Ben Smart, Dec 06 2016
Tim Keller is always insightful in his writings, and this book is no exception. This book contains 365 one-page daily devotionals, working through the Psalms systematically from start to finish. Each devotion has a short Scripture reading (a Psalm or part of it), a brief reflection on the meaning and application of the Psalm, and a short suggested prayer. This book helps you to read the Psalms in a way that engages both your head and your heart. Warmly recommended.

Helpful devotion on Psalm
5 stars By Aaron, Nov 29 2016
This is an excellent bite-sized devotion of the whole book of Psalm. Keller helps to bring out the important context of each Psalm, shows the reader how the Psalm is linked to Christ and helps show possible application of the passage. I found it helpful to spend time personally studying the passage, before reading the devotion.

Delighting in the psalms
4 stars By Katelyn, Oct 05 2016
As a big Tim Keller fan I was very excited when this book first came out. It is quite different from most of his previous publications as it is in the form of a 365 day devotional book. The book originated from Tim's own routine of prayer and spending time with God, as he says that every day he reads through a psalms and his prayer stems from that. He has used many commentaries and has his own notes that he uses alongside the psalm, with exegesis, themes etc to aid in his prayers. I share this because I think it is helpful to know this, as when reading through the devotions and prayers, it can sometimes be difficult to know exactly where Tim's ideas have come from when referring to the psalm text. However when using a commentary alongside it, the connections are made somewhat clearer.
Despite this, it is a great book with fantastic themes to meditate on, and is a useful tool for spending time with God.

Good devotional on the Psalms
4 stars By Angus, Oct 01 2016
This year-long devotional covering all the Psalms is a challenging, encouraging, comforting, and, ultimately, God-glorifying read. Split into three sections (passage, Tim's meditation and a concluding prayer), it has sound exegesis, application and pastoral concern. Like any devotional, some days are better than others, and at times it's hard to tell how Tim has reached his conclusion or meditation from the passage. But on the whole, it will be beneficial for all who read it.
