Meet the Author

Oswald Chambers

Oswald Chambers was born in Aberdeen, Scotland, in 1874. Converted in his teen years under the ministry of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, he studied art and archaeology at the University of Edinburgh before answering a call from God to the Christian ministry. He then studied theology at Dunoon College. From 1906-1910 his career of service took him to the United States and Japan, but the two outstanding periods of his work were as principal of the Bible Training College at Chapham, England (1911-1915), and his ministry to Australian and New Zealand troops as a YMCA chaplain at Zeitoun Egypt during World War I. He died there on November 5, 1917. More than 30 books bear his name, and his best-known book, My Utmost for His Highest, is a Christian classic. - Publisher.

A must have
5 stars By Raj, Dec 26 2014
In plain sight, contained within the pages of this book is a very sure foundation for any wishing to venture in knowing God in truth. Of course, daily bite-sized chunks make the tough truth palatable, but Oswald has a way with words, saying nothing more or less than required. If anyone is wondering, this particular edition is exactly as originally compiled, with the same scripture (KJV) and sentence structure. I reckon grab a couple and give them as gifts!

True Christianity for learning Discipleship
5 stars By Phil, Jun 02 2009
I was fortunate enough to be able to feast on this daily devotional when I first became a believer at the age of 32. Thus I was able to avoid being fooled by the often weak teaching that does not equip us to deal with the true Spiritaula challenges that befall us as we try and live the Christain Life. These highlights of Chamber's teaching were put together by his widow after his premature death from appendecitis while he was teaching and discipling the ANZACs in Africa before they went to battles such as Gallipoli. Along with Amy Carmichael of India, he deserves to be considered one of the protestant Saints of the 20th century. He was truly filled with the Holy Spirit in his teaching, and his wife under the influence of the Holy Spirit also was able to divide up the short hand notes she had taken on Bible verses he had taught around, to produce this amazing daily devotional. It has been virtually in continuous print and usage since it's writing in the early 1920s, and will likely continue so until the end of the age. Although taking a little more effort to fully understand, I more appreciate this original version, with KJV rather than the modernised version that looses more than it gains by being edited to more modern english (I'm referring to Chamber's teaching not just NIV instead of KJV). This little book will bless your life.
