I had heard so many good things about 'My Upmost For His Highest' - there is no doubt it is one of the most well known and well regarded devotional books available. However, despite being a lover of God's word and delving deep into it as I spend time with the Lord, I found this book really hard to read. I think this was mostly due to the language used, which I often found wordy or a bit to poetic and abstract for my liking. I do not doubt that much of the content itself is good, but I just encourage you to pick up a book and read a few of the devotionals before you buy it to see if the style is for you. Please also note that there are many different editions of this book, including ones with more updated language, so it is probably worth having a look at the different versions available.
If you don't already own a copy of Chambers' "My Utmost for His Highest" then you need to get your hands on one. Chambers writes in simple but deep language, leaving us really with one key point a day to follow through and reflect upon. Sometimes, that's all we can really handle. This edition in particular is a wonderful book to gift to friends at different stages in their walk with God. Instead of the KJV quotations, this is simpler to understand for those who might struggle. Not to mention the amazing price! Keep a stack at home to bless others but do keep track to make sure you don't double up!
