NE-FAR-I-OUS (adjective): extremely wicked or villainous; iniquitous

A PEEK BENEATH THE GLOSSY SURFACE of 21st-century society exposes a chilling reality-a global slave trade responsible for the exploitation of over 27 million people. Look a little closer and you uncover an industry that thrives on the degradation and brutalization of these individuals, many of them young girls, through sex slavery. Nefarious unveils the atrocities inherent in this heinous industry-the deceptive process of recruitment and kidnapping, the sub-human living and working conditions, the physical, mental, and spiritual torment inflicted on those enslaved-details made all the more disquieting by overt government complicity and societal indifference.

Christian filmmaker Benjamin Nolot (International House of Prayer) set out to capture a glimpse of the human trafficking industry. Over the next four years, his glimpse became a journey of discovery, yielding over 800 hours of footage and a penetrating look into the nefarious, closeted underworld of human trafficking.

Travel with us through 19 countries, across four continents, into dingy Cambodian brothels, Thai karaoke bars, Amsterdam's infamous red-light district, Moldovan orphanages, legal Nevada brothels, and the street corners and alleyways of metropolises worldwide.

Featuring first-hand interviews and expert analysis from humanitarian leaders, the groundbreaking tell-all Nefarious: Merchant of Souls is a powerful testimony of God's powerful transformation in the lives of victims and traffickers; bringing healing, restoration and renewed hope to a broken world.

ESSENTIAL WATCHING
5 stars By Marg, Nov 30 2013
I was extremely impressed with this documentary. I have watched documentaries in this vein before but this one touches the heart in a positive way (doesn't stop the tears from flowing, though!) because some ex-prostitutes give their testimony after having found Jesus. Now they help those kids who are trafficked, wherever and whenever they can. The video clearly outlines the problems facing anyone who wishes to work against these heartless imprisoners of young lives - there are no whitewashed fences here. Absolutely wonderful.
