"The Himalayan view from our back porch was normally breathtaking but that day I sat there and wondered. Ten years of civil war, a deteriorating health system, an economic crisis and a political stalemate. It was a background of hopelessness for the lives of our Nepali friends and the community that we lived in. In such a setting of pain and darkness, how could God reveal his nature? And how could he call me by name? I wasn't sure. I didn't think it was possible."

From within the uncertainty of Nepal's civil war, Naomi Reed continues the story of her family's desire to train Nepali physiotherapists and share God's love in word and action. Her honesty and genuine longing to see God's purposes and sovereignty make this unforgettable reading. While we as readers don't all live through times of war, we all need to grow in our dependence on God in the hard times that we face. Through reading this story, we too will be inspired to trust "the Lord, the God of Israel who summons you by name."

Meet the Author

Naomi Reed

Author of the bestselling title My Seventh Monsoon, Naomi Reed grew up in Sydney and trained as a physiotherapist, alongside her high-school sweetheart, Darren. After graduation, they married and worked in Sydney hospitals before answering God's call to the mission field in 1993.

They spent six of the next thirteen years working in Nepal with the International Nepal Fellowship and it changed them irrevocably. They now eat rice for breakfast, leave their chappals at the door and pause interminably if you ask them where their home is. Their three sons, Stephen, Christopher and Jeremy, will tell you excitedly about their home in Nepal. They describe motor bike rides in the Himalayas and home school in their Nepali back garden.

The family are currently back in the Blue Mountains where Naomi is writing, contemplating the seasons and enjoying their home church, The Promise: the message of the Bible through voices of Women; and No Ordinary View; Over My Shoulder: in search of the perfect missionary.

An all time favourite book
5 stars By Naomi, Dec 04 2015
Another beautiful read from Naomi. I fell in love with her way of writing in My Seventh Moonsoon and this sequel is even better! Naomi writes with such honesty and Godly reflection. I would describe No Ordinary View (and My Seventh Monsoon) as a devotional diary of sorts. In the book Naomi continues to share lessons from God as she describes missionary life in the Himalayas. It is such a delight to read this book and grow in your knowledge of God. I highly recommend this book to women of all ages.
