A Movie For Our Times
4 stars By Ed, Nov 28 2018
With a growing sense of hostility to the gospel in the West, this movie returns to the early days of the church when persecution was a reality and was the context which gave rise to the New Testament scriptures. In doing so, the viewer is given a reality check and also an encouragement. A reality check to remind us that 'life to the full' in Christ doesn't necessarily mean a life free of difficulty and persecution. An encouragement in that it shows us God working out his sovereign and good purposes even through the most bleak of circumstances. We can similarly be confident that He'll continue to work for our good and His glory in today's world. It's not an easy watch, but one certainly worth taking.

Eye-opening, accurate and deeply moving!
5 stars By Rachel, Oct 31 2018
Watched this movie expecting it to be cheesy and unbiblical, but left completely blown away.

We know in my mind that Paul wrote scripture and we also know that he was imprisoned and beaten often nearly to death but often times we don't connect the two. But this movie does that for us in a profoundly moving way that you will not anticipate. It will rock you.

It shows that while Paul is starving and tormented he pens the words "For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal weight of glory that far outweighs them all" (2 Corinthians 4:17)...it carries a much deeper meaning as we see the circumstances the words were actually written. And we see that no matter what circumstances life throws us in, even persecution, Jesus is enough. When Paul says 'Jesus is enough' he lives that out!

May this movie bless you, encourage you and propel on. God bless!

An Excellent Movie
5 stars By Dr. Bernard Low, Oct 02 2018
I watched this movie at the cinema, thanks to a treat by a friend. It depicts the life and ministry of the Apostle Paul against the first century backdrop and how he tried, through Luke, to minister to the persecuted Christian community whilst in prison. There were many moving scenes, including Paul's sudden flashes of his past life of persecution, his wrestling with guilt, his death and reunion with departed saints including those he has persecuted who now welcomed him into glory. Watching this movie is sure to warm the heart and inspire, not to mention that it will help one gain deeper appreciation for the Apostle and the early church. Highly recommended!

A faithful and moving film
5 stars By Stephen, Aug 09 2018
Paul, Apostle of Christ is an inspired and moving film, depicting the final years of Paul's life in prison in Rome. The film is faithful to scripture, showing Aquila and Priscila's care for the church, Luke's concern for Paul and Paul's faithfulness to God and His grace.

The director carefully weaves scripture into Paul's conversations with Luke in prison, which brings a fresh perspective in the words of Paul's letters. The film does contain some violence scenes, so it wouldn't be appropriate for children.

A deeply personal and moving film which inspires the believer to "fight the good fight" and "finish the race."

Underwhelming
1 stars By Troy, Aug 01 2018
The movie concentrates predominantly on the persecution of the early church, but leaves out the love and power of Paul's true gospel message.
