This is a fantastic book to give to anyone (doesn't everyone struggle with worry?!) as it walks through fear and worry approached by the life changing truth found in the Bible. Each chapter is short and practical, making this a good book for someone who isn't a 'reader'. If you're giving it away I'd encourage you to read it for yourself too, you will be repaid with much encouragement and fruit. Highly recommended
I struggle with anxiety and fear of man. I know I should fear God instead of people - but I keep thinking about what others think of me (do they approve of me, accept me, criticise me?). I got a lot out of Ed Welch's When People are Big and God is small. This one (Running Scared) is like a work book, digging into the reasons we get anxious and fearful - and how the gospel of God's grace in Christ re-orients us towards freedom from fear, peace and rest. I've found my heart grow quieter since going through this book, my self-understanding more secure as I gaze on Christ and who I am in Him. It's a deep book, but is easy to read, and is full of help for the reader personally and how to help other fearful people. Highly recommended.
