Shoot Me First

Shoot Me First is a gripping personal account of life in Pakistan and Afghanistan. The author offers intriguing insights into the culture of the tribal territories that straddle the two countries. This is home to the Taliban, an untamed land which continues to absorb so much of the world's attention and military endeavour. Lock is shrewd and laconic but above all compassionate. His experience of the world's two major religions deserves careful consideration.

Relevant for our time
5 stars By Bea, Sep 17 2014
Couldn't put the book down. Seeing it is so relevant to the time we are living in.

I am very interested in the middle east, especially what people go through who live there, and having it portrayed so clearly by the author, who, together with his wife, looked at the people with the eyes of Jesus.

I loved the fact that it wasn't written by a person with political or biased motives.

I highly recommend this book.

Excellent!
5 stars By Karen, Jul 26 2013
I thoroughly enjoyed reading Shoot Me First. It is very well-written, and is an amazing first-hand account of life in two of the most difficult countries on earth to live. I loved having insight into the lives of the people of these countries, and of the ways that God is working there.
I would say that this book is a must read for everyone, it is fascinating and shows so many ways in which we can be praying for both local people in this region, and those who go to work there.

Essential book to read
5 stars By Julia, Nov 03 2012
As a teenager, my dad is reading Grant Lock's book to me and we are both loving it. I look forward to reading it every night. His adventures give a strong understanding of life in Pakistan, and of Muslims and Hindus, but have a wonderful thrill about them! Definitely a book to read!!!

Important Read
5 stars By David S, Sep 29 2012
This book by Mr Lock is an important read for all Australians as well as those who live where Muslims and Islam are rapidly growing in numbers. By being informed and "educated" we can be prepared to deal with the changes that are happening around us. By copying their example, we can better respond to the changes and the calling out by people who are seeking the truth, or at least should be. Now is not the time to be frightened or withdrawn. Now is the time to be active and ready to meet the challenge. We do not have to go to Afghanistan or Pakistan or China to experience this; it is right here in Australia, in Britain in France and in countries on our door step. We must not turn our back on this. "Shoot Me First" is an excellent explanation of who and what can create a very difficult environment. It also shows that working with the people has positive results. We need to form many drops and make a river too! Just like the Locks did. I did a little of this in China and it is important that we all get involved, just like Grant and Janna did. Thank God for them and others like them. Buy it and read it.

Highly Recommended
5 stars By Bek, Apr 07 2012
This book was given to me as a gift by a friend who couldn't put it down. I was the same, I couldn't put it down either! I had a stack of other books to read, but so glad I chose this one. Great insight into the hot spots of the Middle East, and putting a human face too. Highly recommend
