From noted author Lori Copeland (more than 3 million books in print) comes a romantic new story of God's faithfulness when hope seems lost.

The three wily and beautiful McDougal sisters can swindle a man faster than it takes to lasso a calf. But their luck is running out, and they're about to be hauled off to jail. When the wagon carrying them falls under attack, each sister is picked up by a different man. Unfortunately for Abigail, she's grabbed by a twit of a shoe salesman, Mr. Hershall Digman. She steals his horse and rides off to the nearest town, not giving him another thought?until she discovers those secret papers in his saddlebags. Could Mr. Digman be a Confederate spy?

As if to prove it, the man who comes storming after her is no shoe salesman, but a handsome captain who wants his papers back?at any cost. And Abigail wants a ride back home. Together they embark on his mission, determined not to trust each other?or the God who won?t seem to let them go.

Such fun!
4 stars By Hannah, Feb 25 2016
I'm not a big fan of civil war novels but, surprisingly, really enjoyed this one! The characters were such fun and the situations they got themselves into had me laughing all the way to the end. I love the way it was set up in the beginning, with the three sisters being rescued by three different men - and each book telling only one sister's story. The story definitely finishes (don't worry, you're not left hanging!) but I can't wait to read the rest of the series and find out what happened to the other two sisters. Fun, romantic, sweet, all around great story!

Delightful
4 stars By Jacqui, Dec 02 2015
This is the first book in a series about three sisters who were raised by nuns at a mission after being orphaned. We meet them when they have chosen a life of swindling people out of money, while posing as nuns, so they can help the nuns at the mission out of gratitude for raising them. After being chased by Indians the girls are each rescued by a different man. To avoid capture the men each take off with their young woman in a different direction. The story is set during the end of the American civil war. This first book follows the adventures of Abigail. Although I understand very little about the Civil war I fell in love with the characters. The adventures Abigail and her hero have are hilarious. This is a very enjoyable book to read.

Just one (annoying) sister, actually
3 stars By Iola, Jun 08 2013
Sisters of Mercy Flats follows the story of Abigail as she is carried off by weedy Hershall Digman, a travelling shoe salesman. (Well, that's what we are supposed to think. The book blurb reveals that he is actually Captain Barrett Drake, a spy for the Confederate Army, trying to get some important documents to aid in an upcoming battle).

It wasn't clear who the story was actually going to be about for the first couple of chapters, and by the time it became apparent that it was only about the immature and annoying Abigail, I had already come to the conclusion that I didn't like her . The romance came together very quickly, and I'm not convinced it would last, because of Abigail's immaturity.

Overall, while the basic plot had potential, I had to force myself to finish this. Recommended for those who like light romantic westerns by authors like Lori Wick and Karen Baney.
