Meet the Artist
Phil Wickham is a Contemporary Christian music vocalist/songwriter and guitarist from California.
Born in Orange County son of well-known worship leader John Wickham, Phil came to a point where he made his father's faith his own when he was 12 years old. He moved to San Diego in the middle of junior high school where his career as a worship leader was spawned when he was asked by his youth pastor to lead worship. Wickham accepted, encouraged by his father then a worship pastor at Calvary Chapel, Costa Mesa.
By 18, Wickham had released his debut CD, Give You My World, which included the hit song "Shining." Surprised by its good reception, he began working on twelve new songs for his self-titled album, which was released in 2006.
The 10th track from his 2007 release Cannons, "Jesus Lord of Heaven", has been translated into seven different languages and several of his songs like "This is Amazing Grace" are sung the world over.
Customer Reviews For "Songs For Christmas"Write Your Own Review
I don't know where to start, all the songs in this album are exceptional...from the "Prelude" to the " The First Noel" which has this magical effect that makes you imagine wonderful things to the traditional Christmas songs and the two original songs he wrote. Phil Wickham's voice is just divine, it's soothing and powerful at the same time. But what made this album standout is the song arrangements. I don't know how he can put a modern yet conservative twist on traditional Christmas songs, it's just heavenly. His original songs are inspired. How many people in this generation would write a Christmas song celebrating the birth of our saviour in the tune of awe and gratitude? Phil Wickham did, in Christmas Time. I love this album so much. It's highly recommended for everyone!
