Paperback

This timely, comprehensive and thoroughly documented volume, by veteran Australian family activist Bill Muehlenberg, deals with every aspect of the homosexual debate, including lengthy chapters on homosexual marriage and adoption rights.

"In Strained Relations Bill Muehlenberg stays close to the evidence of the social sciences in examining the strategies and claims of the homosexual rights campaign. In another part of the book he gives similar judicious treatment to recent disputes by scholars and theologians over scriptural passages dealing with homosexuality. All concerned people should read this book and grapple with Bill Muehlenberg's conclusions; for, as he reports, at stake are 'nothing less than the survival of the family unit' and the freedoms of speech, conscience and religion, as well."
Dr Allan C. Carlson, president of the Howard Center for Family, Religion and Society, USA; founder and secretary-general of the World Congress of Families

"We know in our guts that the astounding claims and PR campaigns of the homosexual lobby ring shallow, but until now decent people have not had the facts to fight back and expose the lies. Finally, Bill Muehlenberg provides the much-needed comprehensive study and review of both the homosexual movement and homosexuality. Strained Relations is a book you must have in order to counter the numerous and deadly attacks launched by the homosexual movement on the traditional family unit and civil society."
Rebecca Hagelin, columnist for the Washington Times, bestselling author of Home Invasion and 30 Ways in 30 Days to Save Your Family, and family advocate.

"Bill Muehlenberg is known for fearlessly following facts with unswerving accuracy to whatever conclusions the evidence demands, irrespective of the pressures of passing political correctness. If your preference is for facts rather than fictions, read this book."
Rev. Dr Stuart Robinson, founding pastor of Crossway Baptist Church, Melbourne"

I want to thank Bill Muehlenberg for writing this book and translating what the Bible really says about homosexuality: that God made man for woman to marry, be fruitful and multiply; that homosexuality begins with a thought - it is not genetic; that God has given man a way to transform his or her thinking (Romans 12:2), to be changed to God's way of thinking. Today, as never before, we need to make a stand to protect the family unit and marriage between a man and a woman."
Rev. Dr Margaret Court, AO, MBE, former world number one tennis player; senior pastor, Victory Life Centre, Perth, Western Australia; patron, the Australian Family Association

An eye opener
4 stars By Carla Wilson, Nov 29 2015
I found this book very helpful when thinking through the issues that the 'sexual revolution' is bringing up in our society. I'd not realised that some of what gay activists mock as 'slippery slope' panic from conservative Christians is already happening overseas with people being punished for their beliefs. This is an important and timely book which addresses the challenges we're facing as a society. It should be required reading ahead of the proposed plebiscite on same sex marriage.

Selectively researched
1 stars By Tapio, Jan 30 2013
Strained relations fails the "check the footnotes" test. I checked most of the scientific evidence cited and found it to be inaccurate and mostly entirely wrong. The other footnotes don't really prove much other than somebody said this or that. Written to keep people suspicious and angry - not recommended reading if you want a balanced factual viewpoint.

Absolutely Brilliant!!!
5 stars By Jenna Priest, Dec 11 2012
This book is without a doubt the BEST book on opposing and resisting the gay agenda I have ever read. After reading this, I literally had no questions left. Bill Muehlenberg has thoroughly and meticulously researched this topic tirelessly and it really shows in the presentation and the supporting documentation as well as unbiased documentation of opinions from both sides. This book will equip you with the wisdom and knowledge to respond to opposing views and to do it with zealous confidence. I can't recommend this book highly enough. It is that awesome. Thank you to the author for his passion to educate the body of Christ truthfully and provide a resource that is so helpful and truly insightful.

Challenging Book on Homosexuality
5 stars By Dr I R Ridgway, Dec 07 2012
Strained Relations in its first major part, 'Social Science and Public Policy Concerns', offers both a backdrop to the challenges posed by homosexual activism and a detailed elaboration of the arguments opposing the adoption of the homosexual lobby's agenda. This first section takes up over 70% of the book's text and does not appeal to any overt considerations of religious faith. It is important that all Christians and non-Christians study this section to be informed about the matters it raises. The 12 chapters provide a compendium of the major issues in a handy, distilled form. Muehlenberg has also carefully surveyed the homosexual popular media and one of his findings is that a significant variability exists within the homosexual community on many issues that heterosexuals would believe to be uniform among that same community. In a second and briefer major part titled, 'Biblical and Theological Concerns', Muehlenberg compellingly shows that what he calls 'revisionist' arguments based on the Biblical texts are unsound. His discussion on the 'Ten Ploys of the Revisionists' which is the major chapter in this part is excellent, exposing some of the usual comments made about homosexual relationships that often pass for argument. For example, the 'God-made-me-this-way' argument, with the implication that homosexuality is therefore a gift from God (p. 178). Muehlenberg dispatches this argument and others like it swiftly. Strained Relations from a survey of its contents to its endnotes evidences in-depth research and a concerted focus on the main issues. I recommend this book whole-heartedly as it will repay careful study by informing readers of the challenges now faced both by the broader community, the Christian churches and other faith communities.

A Triumph for Truth!
5 stars By Simon, May 15 2012
Perhaps the most disturbing revelation of Muehlenberg's comprehensive assessment of the damaging homosexual lifestyle and political agenda is the long growing list of successful attacks against freedom of religion freedom of conscience and freedom in general

It is certainly and sadly fashionable to say that homosexuality will not impact society in any way and yet Muehlenberg need only refer to the myriad news articles that clearly testify to the reality that many people are paying the price namely freedom for the establishment of homosexuality in western culture

So I encourage everyone to read this book get informed and pray ceaselessly for strength to stand for truth in a generation that largely despises God and his clear loving and wise commands regarding human sexuality
