Cd

Multi-Platinum artist, best-selling author and acclaimed actor Michael W. Smith releases for the first time in his career two, all new albums in one month, both his studio album A Million Lights and the live worship album Surrounded from Rocketown Records and The Fuel Music.

With Surrounded, Michael's desire is to unify the Church's diverse expressions into one passionate, joyful cry of worship.

"The thought of doing another live worship project has been something I have processed for a while now. The question I have asked myself most is not so much what do I want to do, but what do I need to do.

What do WE need to do as His church and as His children? What expression of worship does He desire from us... have we missed something? The reality is, it is not the style of our expression He is concerned with, it is the heart.
He wants our honesty. He wants our vulnerability. He wants us to come to him as we are, not as we want to be.I feel God moving through His church and He is calling us TOGETHER.... to be one voice and one heart. One bride.
Every nation, every tribe, and every tongue. Every social class. Every denomination.Let's get together and rejoice! In what He has done, what He is doing, and what He has yet to do."

"What if we bring Him the thing that pleases Him most- our unity," implores Michael. "We may each have different stories, and skin, and songs, but we all share His same Spirit."

Leading a diverse chorus of voices, Michael's new worship album features 12 tracks, including the declarative "Surrounded (Fight My Battles)," and popular modern worship songs such as "King of My Heart," "Do It Again," and "Great Are You Lord."

Great album
4 stars By Dee, Aug 23 2018
This is a great album and one that I would highly recommend.

It's a compilation of songs by various artists, so there's some songs you will probably know and be able to sing along to.

I love Michael's voice and find it very soothing.

There are a couple of songs which are just a stand out - I love the lyrics "This is how I fight my battles." Very inspiring.

Soulful worship from Michael W. Smith
5 stars By Thomas, Jul 09 2018
I absolutely love how Michael W. Smith can create a worship experience like none other time and time again. This curated collection of worship songs, although not all his own original song, really focus you back on God and His love for you. 'Surrounded' is a great worship experience for all!

His best CD since A New Hallelujah! There's just something about the way it sounds that's very soulful, melodic, relaxing but also worshipful!

Review
3 stars By Timothy Yap, Mar 19 2018
Michael W. Smith has been known to craft songs without any expiration dates. After more than three decades, his song "Friends" is still the soundtrack of countless graduations, farewell parties, and funerals. Even though there have been more recent love songs, Smith's "I Will Be Here for You" is still an ever popular song for couples to dance to at their wedding receptions. Even to this day, the proportion of worship teams playing to Smith's rendition of "Above All" still overshadows the original versions by the song's co-writers Lenny LeBlanc and Paul Baloche. With such a sublime discography, the expectations are high when it comes to Smith's latest release."Surrounded" is a live worship album. 6 out of 12 cuts are worship covers. Smith is stellar in his cover of Brian and Jenn Johnson's "Here I Bow," Elevation Worship's "Do It Again," Cory Asbury's "Reckless Love," and John Mark McMillan's "King of My Heart." But when it comes to the originals, the problem surfaces. The songs are deprived of any depth. The title cut "Surround" is a horrid example of juvenile writing. The song only contains permutations of one line: "God, you fight our battles for us." "Washed Away" is redeeming simply because the bulk of the melody is fluorished upon the hymn "Nothing But the Blood of Jesus."
