Hardback

Wayne Grudem believes that "theology is meant to be lived and prayed and sung" - but before this can happen, it must be understood.

In this best-selling textbook, each chapter begins with a clear definition of the doctrine under consideration and moves on to a thorough exposition of its basis in Scripture. Then follow questions for personal application which help to bring out the relevance of the doctrine to the life of the individual and the church. Each chapter ends with a hymn suitable for corporate use or personal meditation.

Controversial issues such as the baptism and gifts of the Holy Spirit, male-female roles in marriage and church, and the nature of final judgment are given a full treatment. Where he differs from other theologians, Professor Grudem is firm but courteous.

Wayne Grudem's warm, pastoral and practical approach to systematic theology has been widely appreciated. He demonstrates on page after page how important biblical doctrine is both for the spiritual health of the individual and for the well-being of the church at large. 1,260 pages, from IVP.

They say a sign of a great teacher is someone who can take big, difficult ideas and make it edible for the everyday person; this is Wayne Grudem. Systematic Theology is easily accessible, answers tough questions and great for study. I would recommend it for all christians, especially those who want to understand what they believe.

Essential reading!
5 stars By M.C. Shannon, May 23 2017
Grudem's 'Systematic Theology' is without a doubt one of the best books of it's kind on the market for the average Christian. It provides detailed but clear answers on some of the trickiest concepts that Christians believe. This is a must have for the bookshelf!

Recommended for all Christians
5 stars By Hoa, Mar 06 2016
Grudem's systematic theology is an excellent introduction to the Bible's teaching on the core areas of the Christian faith. He does not write from a neutral point of view, but presents his point of view alongside alternatives. One of the great strengths of this book is Grudem consistently demonstrates how he has reached his conclusions from the Bible. Whether or not you agree with all his conclusions, you are invited to check them for yourself with the Bible, so that even if you disagree, you know why. He also often points out the practical relevance of the doctrine at hand, and each chapter includes reflection questions, a memory passage and a hymn. Wayne Grudem's Systematic Theology is not just for intellectual learning, but expanding one's faith and worship of God.

Don't be afraid..
5 stars By Raj, Feb 27 2015
After hearing about this book from colleagues and friends for far too long, I decided to grab it myself. It was well-priced compared to other outlets so I took the gamble. I am now kicking myself for not purchasing it earlier. While it looks daunting and weights in at over 1200 pages, the material is neatly organised (systematically, I guess..=P) by theme with subheadings and the like, bold and italicised print for emphasis where necessary, an extensive glossary and bibliography. I have managed to leaf through a few pages a day as a long term project and I am already learning so much I assumed I already knew about basic biblical doctrines. My favourite part is the reference to classic hymns, other works and the personal application questions.
