Paperback
There are countless benefits to be derived from studying Bible characters. They give an overall picture of the Bible, help readers to appreciate Bible history, and tie together the teachings of the Old and New Testaments. But many Bible dictionaries focus only on featured names and skip such characters as Abagtha, Eliphaz, Sihon, and Zuriel. Who were these people and how can their lives speak to Christians today? The Baker Encyclopedia of Bible People is a comprehensive who's who of Bible characters, touching on everyone from Aaron to Zurishaddai. Bringing together biblical materials on over two thousand people, this complete guide also offers the meanings and pronunciations of biblical names and a significant summary on each person. Nowhere will readers find a more complete resource that will make their reading of Scripture come alive.

- Publisher Everything you ever wanted to know about everyone in the Bible The pages of the Bible are filled with stories of people: parents and children, warriors and prophets, saints and scoundrels, women and men, laborers and kings. Despite the often difficult-to-pronounce names, they were real people, just like you. They each had a role--large or small, for good or for ill--in God's unfolding plan of salvation, and there are great spiritual lessons we can learn from their lives. The Baker Encyclopedia of Bible People is a comprehensive, accessible guide to these players in God's drama. It contains a listing for every person named in the Bible-- over 2,000 of them--with extensive entries for major Bible figures. Helpful features include: -summaries of each person's significance in Bible history -name meanings -engaging biographical and character profiles for some 250 major Bible people -family ties -relevant Bible verses for more in-depth study -quotes from classic commentators Whether for personal devotional study or for preparing sermons or Bible studies, you will turn again and again to this helpful reference tool.
