The Blessedness of Death

Dallas Clarnette

$4.99

Paperback

Far from being morbid, this is an inspiring record of the last words of select Christians from the 1700s down to the present. We hear how they yearned to be with Christ even as their strength ebbed away. This is a challenging read! It urges those advanced in years to look forward to their own death. It urges the young who think they'll never die, to prepare for it as the saints have for generations. It will speak to the careless as it shows clearly that Christians know how to die. It echoes Isaac Watt's hymn: "I'll praise my Maker while I've breath and when my voice is lost in death, praise shall employ its nobler powers".

Dallas Clarnette has been a minister in the Presbyterian Church of Australia ever since 1993. His ministry actually began in 1953 with the Methodist Church. He was ordained to the ministry of the Gospel in 1960. Dismayed at the 'sell out' by Methodists who wished to enter the Uniting Church, he left Methodism and served independent and congregational churches for several years.

In 1993 he became a minister of the Presbyterian Church of Australia in which he continues to this day. His ministry has involved evangelism, theological college lecturing, working for his Master's and Doctoral degrees (in USA). He has served on the boards of various Christian and missionary organisations, He was also one of the six founding director of New Life Christian Newspaper and founded a publishing company, Fletcher and Fitchett Ltd in 1979.

As a private pilot for over 40 years, he owned and operated aircraft as an adjunct to his ministry in WA and Victoria. He contested the 1989 State Election in WA and has maintained an interest in politics for years. He is currently chairman of the Christian Democratic Party (Vic).

In 1967 he published Fifty Years on Fire for God, a biography of the Rev Walter Betts, (reprinted in 2000). In 2009 The Blessedness of Death for Believers was published. He has been a contributor to various journals over the years.
