There is nothing more powerful than fasting. Though it lasts for a short season, it brings long-term effects and blessings. This book is focused on the power of fasting to help you regain your edge when the circumstances of life deplete your spiritual energy and dull your spiritual sharpness. Best-selling author Jentezen Franklin sets the focus for the book by using the story of the student prophet in 2 Kings 6 who lost his ax head while working. The ax head flew off the ax and landed in a dirty, murky pond and sank to the bottom. Through this biblical example, Franklin will give us the steps to regaining our edge, which include: 1. Make up your mind to admit it is lost. 2. Confess that you have lost it. 3. Confide your loss to someone in a spiritual position to help. 4. Go the river (point of losing it). 5. Watch the power of God make your lost edge swim to the top of the murky river. 6. Pick up the ax and put it back on the ax pole (our part in regaining our edge; God will not do it all).

Brilliant book, extremely helpful
5 stars By Lisa, Aug 25 2014
I heard a few messages from Jentezen Franklin and decided to fast for the first time. During the time I was fasting, I read this book.

It is an amazing book full of power and wisdom. It is biblical based and Jentezen's interpretation is always consistent with the scripture. It gave me direction and purpose during the time i was fasting. I felt empowered in the times that I was weak.

I love the last few chapters extremely. I feel that it not only helps me during the time i was fasting but also in normal day-to-day life.

Overall, I think this is a wonderful book. Definitely worth a read!

5 stars By Sabrina, Sep 14 2012
Jentezen is such anointed pastor, he even went to the mountain in Judean where Jesus fast forty days and forty nights for all of us. I followed the book's instruction, practiced fasting three times,i want to say IT WORKS!!I can see the changes in my life, I received my strongholds, which I thought it not gonna change. I'm grateful that I have this book to teach me how to fast and how to receive from God, also how to have deeper relationship with God!
