This one-hour documentary takes you on a fascinating journey through time. It was shot on location throughout Europe, and brings to life many important places of Christian history. You will learn how God's Word was originally scribed in Hebrew and Greek. You will walk with Dr. Lampe among the ruins of the very first Christian Church ever built above ground not in Israel, but in England!

Discover how the Word was preserved through the 1,000 year period known as the Dark and Middle Ages, when possession of scripture in any language other than Latin meant certain death at the hands of the organized church. You will learn the historical truth about the misunderstood books called "Apocrypha" that were printed in every Protestant Christian's Bible until 1885. As you travel back in time, you will feel as if you are actually meeting John Wycliffe, the first person to translate the Bible into English. You will visit his church, which is still offering Sunday services today, as it has since the 1300's. You will see the door where Martin Luther nailed his 95 Theses, that started the Protestant Reformation. You will visit Erasmus's illegal printing shop, which is a book store today. You will find that William Tyndale was burned at the stake. His Crime? Printing the Bible in the English language.

Find out why the Bible of the Protestant Reformation, the Geneva Bible, had to be printed in Switzerland due to the reign of Queen "Bloody" Mary. Learn how the printing of the 1611 King James Bible came to be, and how the King James version slowly replaced the Geneva Bible, which was popular among the early American Colonists.

This DVD will "bring it all together" in just one hour. The Forbidden Book is simply the most captivating and informative video ever produced on the subject of how we got the Bible, and how God has preserved His Word for thousands of years to countless generations. (60 minutes)

You can do better
2 stars By Jacqui, Sep 16 2012
We personally own 3 different dvd productions on the history of the english bible and this would be the poorest of them all. And it was my most recent purchase. The film seemed quite disjointed and didn't flow very well. It is an older production and can be rather boring at times with the same scholar on location at various points dictating various information. Some may find this to be quite outdated, poor in the quality of the film production and boring. Whilst it is educational, it doesn't flow well and the momentum is rather slow. There are others on the market that are just as interesting or more-so and factual but are much superior and up to-date with their production techniques and filming. I was personally disappointed in the quality of the production.

The Greatest Book
5 stars By Sylvia, Apr 05 2008
The Greatest Book on Earth is God's Book, The Bible.

This DVD is the best history viewing on the beginning of the
Bible right up to the KJA version which is the best Bible ever
printed. From beginning to end this DVD captures the attention.

I recommend 'Greatsite.com' to any serious student of Bible
History. The DVD is narrated by the Director of this site, a
very sincere and helpful man.
