Second chances
3 stars By Hannah, Sep 19 2016
I found this story slow at times, dragging especially through the middle, but overall enjoyed it. It was a good reminder of the second chances God gives us in life and love as the characters come to the realisation - and acceptance - that who we are today isn't despite what we've been through but because of it. That God uses every circumstance to make us into the people he wants us to be.

compared to secular books, it was good
3 stars By Ibu Guru, Apr 01 2016
These days, fidelity is a rare commodity and therefore all the more precious. Having the hero in this story as one who has given his heart, mind and body away illicitly previously... one wonders how easy the future will be when the temptations he gives up, arise again. I feel sorry when it is the female in the couple who is the strong one. But this is fiction, so all will go ahead happily ever after. It was an interesting read.

Excellent narration, interesting storyline
4 stars By sarah, Apr 07 2014
This second novel in the whispers on the moors series held my interest from beginning to end. I often listen to audiobooks and as any frequent listener knows, the narration is as important as the story itself. Henrietta Meire narrates this book and does an excellent job at portraying the different characters allowing the reader to become fully immersed in the plot.

I enjoyed the story about a woman trying to keep running a school for girls whilst dealing with the loss of her father and trusting in God for future direction. The dynamics of a family in mourning were interesting.

It was an enjoyable read and recommended for historical fiction fans who appreciate a good story alongside an old fashioned romance.

Enjoyable Christian Regency Romance
4 stars By Iola, Jan 25 2014
Miss Patience Creighton has been managing Rosemere, a boarding school for girls in the grounds of Eastmore Hall, since her father died six months ago. Her older brother disappeared off to London shortly after the funeral and hasn't been heard from since, and her mother has taken to her bed suffering grief and depression, leaving Patience in sole charge of the school, servants, and over twenty students.

William Sterling has returned to his home at Eastmore Hall hoping to somehow raise the money necessary to pay off his gambling debts. It's not made clear what has changed his mind, but Ladd does a commendable job in redeeming the reprobate and turning him into a hero worthy of Patience.

Patience was a very good character, although patience was not one of her character traits. She was intelligent and educated in a time when this wasn't the norm for women, and believed that love had passed her by at the grand old age of twenty-five. As a result, she's not quite sure what to do about the handsome William Sterling. And, of course, she's dedicated to her students ...

Recommended for fans of Julie Klassen and Regency romance. Thanks to Litfuse Publicity for providing a free ebook for review.
