Beautifully written collection of essays
5 stars By Karl, Nov 27 2012
I've only recently been introduced to the works of Buechner, but already he has become a favourite of mine, in a similar category for me as CS Lewis. This collection of writings on many topics is composed with great eloquence and beauty, and loosely addresses why it can be so hard for us to really see God's truths. This book is divided between The Search - where we have a responsibility to seek God to fill our 'Hungering Dark' and The Sought - which depicts God's ever present desire to bring us to Him. What I like most about Buechner is his ability to say the truth in a simple way that makes perfect sense, yet in a manner that I never would have thought of myself. While some essays are better than others, this collection that deals with doubt, hope and so much more is sure to have something that appeals to everyone
