The parable of the talents says that if I take what I have, and give it to God, unlimited things can happen for others. Is this true and does it work today are questions that are being answered in southern California at the Coast Hills Community Church in a nationally recognized way as they give $100 bills to their church members and send them out to do good.

One inspirational book recently recently topped the best-seller charts by encouraging people to daily pray that God would enlarge their borders and give them more opportunities in spiritual endeavors. It promised God's favor, power, and protection in return for that prayer. What if, however, the assignment were changed? What if instead of a prayer for help in expanding one's own influence people were focused on this commitment: God, if I take what I have, and give it to you, unlimited things can happen for others. Right before my eyes. If that proposition sounds familiar, it's because it's the Lord's challenge to his servants in the parable of the talents. But is it true for today? And how does it work? Dennis Bellesi pastors a church of 2,000 that he started in Orange County, California. He distributed $100 bills to his congregation after preaching on the parable of the talents and urged them to use them as they saw best. He called it a "Kingdom Assigment." Many pastors and youth directors have done this before, but it caught on like wildfire at Bellesi's Coast Hills Community Church. The congregation was turned upside-down and hundreds of amazing stories began pouring in. These stories about people responding to the challenge of using their talents take many forms, such as one couple's successful effort to grow their talent money to help an organization that works with unwanted children, or another man's use of his $100 to raise funds for the Jesus Film Project, or another woman's use of $100 that became $6,000 and helped a 14-year-old boy who had no family.
