The Only One Facing As Much Pressure As the Pastor is ... The Pastor's Kid
Dad may be following God's call, but the Pastor's kids (PKs) are just following mom and dad. Often to devastating results.
Barnabas Piper - son of Pastor and bestselling author John Piper - has experienced the challenges of being a PK first-hand. With empathy, humor, and personal stories, he addresses the pervasive assumptions, identity issues and accelerated scrutiny PKs face.
But more than just stating the problems - he shares the one thing a PK needs above all else (as do their pastor/father and church) is to live in true freedom and wholeness.

A good reflection.
4 stars By Ibu Guru, Nov 01 2017
Barnabas has some valid points that we should all keep in mind. It has always mystified me why children of ministers who it would seem, have a front-row seat to see the awesome value of knowing God, can turn completely away. This book gives some reasons which should help us all be careful to build PKs rather than offend them. Michael Fechner Jr is another PK who wrote very positively about his experience in "Lessons on the way to heaven" which I recommend.

Providing the help of a personal story
3 stars By Jeff, Oct 26 2017
As the son of a very prominent Christian pastor, Barnabas Pipe is in an excellent position to write this book to help us understand the pressures of being a pastors kid. The book therefore has an authentic feel to it. Some aspects of the book are peculiar to the American context and won't translate in our Australian church culture but much is helpful.
I would recommend this book to anyone with a significant connection to a pastor's kid: friends, family, the pastor or the kid themselves.

An interesting read...
3 stars By Bec, Feb 25 2016
Written for the pastor, the pastor's kid and the wider church family, I found this book to be an interesting read that offered many ideas that I had never considered before. Written by the son of famous preacher John Piper, Barnabas Piper is well-qualified to critique the attitudes and behaviours with which PK's are treated. I found this a helpful book which well better equip me to offer my PK's a grace-filled home without fixed expectations of them.
