About "The Pug List"

:

"What if a wheezing, sneezing, allegedly house-trained, ticking time bomb of an orphan pug is the key to helping a family feel at home again, after an arsonist set their house-and life-on fire? If you asked me, I would have said it's a bad idea; we can do better. Unfortunately no one asked me, and The Pug List is my family's story."

In the fire's aftermath of insurance battles royal, rebuilding plans, parenting in the face of life's hard questions and a scorching case of post-traumatic stress, now is absolutely the worst possible time to adopt a dog. But to Alison's seven-year-old daughter, Eden, it's the perfect time-and The Relentless Campaign begins.

Until one day Alison peeks inside Eden's diary-dubbed "The Pug List"-and realizes in one fell swoop that her girl's heart is on the line, and resistance is futile ("The pugs make me happy FOREVER.").

Enter "Outrageous" Oliver, and the hilarity, healing, and irresistible hope that follows.

God's creatures bringing love to a family
4 stars By Beth Doherty, Dec 23 2016
This is one of the loveliest books I have read this year, told with very intentional honesty. Alison Hodgson tells the story of how her family loses their house to arson, and their journey to rebuild over the following two years. She tells the story with beautiful imagery, so much so, it's easy to imagine the characters and surroundings at every point in the book. In a time of desperation and doubt, Alison is buoyed by the diary she finds of her young daughter Eden, who deals with the loss of the family home by saving up her pennies for her dream, a little pug. Lots of ups and downs follow, there is disappointment and joy, swings and roundabouts. Finally, a little pug called Oliver joins the family, bringing with him a character and way all of his own. This story is redemptive, hopeful and real.

A nice read
3 stars By Fuzzy, Aug 13 2016
I enjoyed the Pug list but I was hoping for way more Pug.
He didn't come into the story until about 23's of the way through.
It was more about the fire and how they rebuilt after and how they coped with some of the
symptoms of PTSD
There was another girl who was with them when the fire broke out but she kinda disappeared
Having said all that I did really enjoyed it.
A good weekend read
