Emmalyne Knox and Tavin MacLachlan were destined to be together...until the tragic deaths of Emmalyne's youngest sisters. Family tradition mandates that the youngest daughter should remain single to care for her parents in their old age, and now that daughter is Emmalyne. Her father unyielding, Emmalyne surrenders to her duty, heartbroken. Tavin leaves town, equally devastated.

Years later, Emmalyne's family moves, and she and Tavin meet again. Their feelings for each other are as strong as ever, but their painful past and Emmalyne's father still stand between them. Soon both families are in the midst of the growing conflict rising between the workers at the granite quarry that Tavin's father owns and operates. When a series of near-fatal accidents occur, Tavin must figure out who is behind the attacks before someone gets killed.

Bound by obligation, yet yearning for a future together, can Emmalyne and Tavin dare to dream that God could heal a decade-long wound and change the hearts of those who would stand in the way of true love?

Slow starter but happy ending
3 stars By Rochelle, NSW, Aug 30 2014
I really enjoyed the Icecutter's Daughter and so picked up The Quarryman's Bride. Was surprised by the slower start as I've found Tracie Peterson to be a great and humorous writer.

I enjoyed the Relationship development and exploration of damaging emotions displayed in Emmy's Dad not to mention showing what grief, her Mum, can do if held onto too long.

This bit from Sarah's review earlier this year is great and so thought to add it here for you too.....
"Tracie had included some excellent points about forgiveness, bitterness and pride and how these elements can really affect not just ourselves, but those around us and our relationship with God. "

Thankfully there is a great redemption side to this story and for that main reason I encourage you to continue with the 'Land of Shining Water series.

Good lessons
3 stars By sarah, Feb 10 2014
This next book in the Land of Shining Waters series centres around two families - the Maclaughlins and the Knox's. Emmy and Tavin face many difficulties that split their families apart.

I found this book very slow to begin, and dull until around the last 100 pages. I persevered only because the relationship between Emmy and her father and mother interested me. I had to know what happened in their family dynamic. However, the pace of the story did pick up after 200 pages and the reader begins to get involved in the relationships very slowly fleshed out in the earlier parts.

Tracie had included some excellent points about forgiveness, bitterness and pride and how these elements can really affect not just ourselves, but those around us and our relationship with God. For these lessons alone I feel the story deserves 3 stars, but it is not one of her best novels. For those wanting to start reading her books, I recommend the Ladies of Liberty series or Heirs of Montana series for some more interesting novels.
