A great gift (or presentation book) for friends or for yourself
By Chris, Dec 24 2016
This book is magnificent. The text of Scripture beautifully illustrated with drawings which come from (and are of) Australia but have a universal and international appeal. This international appeal is confirmed by the attestations on the back of the book. Dr Pfennigwerth has spent hours and weeks deciding on the appropriate illustrations, and then drawing them but only after hours of contemplation and study of the text, preceded by years of theological study. The drawings show the beauty of God's creation. All in academia must wish that every doctoral dissertation produced something as beautiful and long-lasting as this. Something to treasure. I have given this book to many friends, friends of faith and of no faith, and it has been well received. I have also given the book to several professional people as a thank you for work well done. The church which I attend has a great choir which has travelled internationally, and this book has been presented as a thank you gift to Durham Cathedral and to St George's Chapel in Windsor. The dedication page to this book carries the verse: I commend Joy (1 Eccl 8:15) and this book does that. We are told that the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy him forever, and this book helps us do that. Buy a copy for yourself, and one for each of your friends. I did.
Wonderful stories, stunningly brought to life
By Benjamin, Sep 07 2016
If no-one joyfully praised God, then the stones would. Likewise, if you're beginning to realise that most books lack a depth of truth, art, goodness, beauty, and wonder, then likely you'll feel refreshed by the very pages of this book joyfully praising God. Through art, inspired by thousands of hours of her research, Dr Pfennigwerth has given us a fast, beautiful, and wondrous opportunity to immerse ourselves - heart, mind, and soul - in some of the greatest stories, and in God.
