:Mackenzie Allen Phillips's youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation. Evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, in the midst of his great sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note--apparently from God--inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment, he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change his life forever.

Meet the Author

Wm Paul Young

Paul was born a Canadian and along with three younger siblings was raised among a stone-age tribe by his missionary parents in the highlands of what was New Guinea (West Papua). The family returned to Canada where his father pastored a number of churches for various denominations. By the time he entered Canadian Bible College, Paul had attended a dozen schools. He completed his undergraduate degree in religion at Warner Pacific College in Portland, Oregon. While in Oregon, Paul attended seminary and worked on staff at a large church where he met and married Kim. Together they celebrate the wastefulness of grace with their six children, two daughters-in-law, and now two grandchildren. His worldwide phenomenon, The Shack, was written for his six children, with no thought or intention to publish. He says "It is as much a surprise to me as to anyone else that I am now an author. And a best-selling author at that!

An amazing read!!
5 stars By Elizabeth , Oct 11 2017
I read this book as a new Christian and it opened my eyes up to a Holy family who loved me in spite of my pain and anger I had towards God for past hurts. I felt Gods love compassion and understanding, and then comfort while reading the book. It is an amazing story that God used to begin my healing journey. I highly recommend this book.

What a great book!!
5 stars By Aileen, Sep 11 2017
WM. Paul Young has done a really great job explaining the Trinity(Father, Son and the Holy Spirit). This book has given me a good understanding of how the Trinity work in our life. It is about God's love for every human being, the unconditional love in every situation in life. It is an essential reading for every Christian. Tears, joy, hope, reconciliation, forgiveness are in this book. Great one!

Very helpful for believers or seekers
5 stars By Maggie, Jul 30 2017
As a Christian I found "The Shack" deeply moving and insightful. At times I was shocked by the ideas suggested, yet the story proved itself valid always. It's written with simplicity and ease, and yet it teaches deep things of God that many of us question, without venturing to ask. But it still has an active narrative, that is quite enthralling to read. It's obvious Paul Young has a lifetime of experience behind his story. And it's so convincing, I, and others I have spoken to, have for a while wondered if it really happened!

Discussable
3 stars By Matthew Poole, Apr 04 2017
I liked and was moved by the beginning and the ending and the descriptions of landscapes and nature throughout. The dialogue in the middle I struggled with, particularly with some of the statements. There's one paragraph in particular I could have used a bit of clarification on what was actually being said. It'd be nice to talk to the author and discuss things back and forth. To be fair, this struggle didnt happen often. Even with the struggle with these issues, I will read another of Mr Young's books soon
