About "The Shadow of Your Smile (#05 in Deep Haven Series)"
A beautiful blanket of snow may cover the quaint town of Deep Haven each winter, but it can?t quite hide the wreckage of Noelle and Eli Hueston?s marriage. After twenty-five years, they?re contemplating divorce . . . just as soon as their youngest son graduates from high school. But then an accident erases part of Noelle's memory. Though her other injuries are minor, she doesn?t remember Eli, their children, or the tragedy that has ripped their family apart. What?s more, Noelle is shocked that her life has turned out nothing like she dreamed it would. As she tries to regain her memory and slowly steps into her role as a wife and mother, Eli helps her readjust to daily life with sometimes-hilarious, sometimes-heartwarming results. But can she fall in love again with a man she can?t remember? Will their secrets destroy them . . . or has erasing the past given them a chance for a future?

Each time I read a 'Deep Haven' novel, I think it is the best one yet, They just keep getting better, This is my all time favourite to date. It tells the emotional story of Noelle and Eli, whose marriage is on the skids. They have been though a lot, including a prolonged period filled with grief and guilt after the murder of their daughter. It has taken it's toll and they are now sleeping in separate rooms. Each one has devastating secrets. Then, to top it all off, Noelle suffers total amnesia after a severe blow to the head. She's lost the past 25 years of her life, and Eli has gained a second chance to woo his wife back, if that's what he wants. The process of restoration and forgiveness is so beautifully told, you really need to read it.
...but I thought this was excellent. The marriage of Eli and Noelle Hueston has been going steadily downhill since the death of their teenage daughter in a store shooting. Eli blames himself for her death, and has since retired from his job as Sheriff, and Noelle is barely surviving. A twist of fate finds Noelle caught up in another shore shooting, but while she does not die, she loses all memory of the last 25 years. I really enjoyed this book, more so than I expected based on the plot summary. As well as the main plot, there is a very sweet romantic sub-plot involving Eli and Noelle’s oldest son, Kyle, now a deputy in Deep Haven. As always, Susan May Warren has delivered a book that satisfies on many levels, with likeable characters, a nice romance, a bit of suspense, and some thought-provoking plot lines.
