The Three Wise Camels (Lost Sheep Series)

The Three Wise Camels (Lost Sheep Series)

$6.99

Paperback

You've heard about the three wise men, but what about the Three Wise Camels? If you love big telescopes, wise sayings and frankincense then join the camels on their epic Christmas adventure!

Includes suggestions for parents and teachers plus the CEV Bible text of Matthew 2:1-12.

From the Author:

The Three Wise Camels began as a homemade book in 1990 for my family and friends. It was cheaper than buying Christmas presents. The initial 'print run' was about 50 copies. The two major differences between the original book and the final product 24 years later are:

- The camel's went from 'stick figure' camels to 'cartoon' camels.
- The removal of the Hubble Telescope and Barbara Thiering references.

The Three Wise Camels approached a number of publishers. The best rejection comment was, 'I love the story but it is too Christian for the general market but not Christian enough for the Christian market.'

The Camels have shared their amazing adventures at many Christmas church services over the last 20 years. They always receive a warm welcome. Three times I've told the story at our annual Carols service in Whitmore square which has a memorial to the Afghan Camel drivers. Australia's oldest mosque built by the Afghanis is a street away. It is fun telling the story and then wrapping the Afghanis and Muslims into our Christmas celebrations.

'Through the war zone' was first illustration drawn during the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait. I find it devastating what has happened since. I hope people pray this page. The flying Camel is a 'Sopwith Camel'. Only Snoopy fans get the joke.

I've wondered if while fun, whether the story had enough weight. But everyone loves them and it is easy to encourage people to join the Camels in seeking out Jesus. The most common question has been, "Where do I buy the book?"

- Andrew McDonough.

A fun children's book
5 stars By Mariquita, Oct 27 2017
This is a funny story about, "The three wise camels" and their take on the Christmas story. The story is told in a commical way and the pictures are fun, illustrated like cartoons. Primary school aged children would appreciate the humour in this story.

Clever and funny

An entertaining and thought provoking Christmas story that appeals to all ages. The younger children love the pictures and the rhyming, the older children enjoy the humour. It provides a really good platform for discussing the Christmas story.

Fun Christmas reading
4 stars By Jacqui, Dec 02 2015
This colourful book with cute and unique pictures loosely tells the story of the wise men who brought gifts to Jesus only there are no wise men only their camels. It is told by the camels and from their point of view. Kids are entertained as they journey the funny trek with the camels to find baby Jesus and then leap with joy once finding him. Like all Lost Sheep books there is Cecil's Page at the back which gives you the bible reading and some questions to ask the kids. I have read this books to kids from 1yr to 10yrs and they have all loved it.

Fun Christmas story
5 stars By Hannah, Oct 23 2014
Everyone's heard of the three wise men, and though it's debateable just how many wise men there were, there's little doubt they rode camels as they followed the bright star to Jesus. This is the camels' story, and such a fun one it is! With brightly coloured cartoon-type illustrations and the author's trademark Aussie sense of humour, kids and their parents alike will enjoy this new re-telling of the Christmas story. Highly recommend it!
