About "The Total Money Makeover"
<p>The success stories speak for themselves in this audio book from money maestro Dave Ramsey. Instead of promising the normal dose of quick fixes, Ramsey offers a bold, no-nonsense approach to money matters, providing not only the how-to but also a grounded and uplifting hope for getting out of debt and achieving total financial health.</p> <p>Ramsey debunks the many myths of money (exposing the dangers of cash advance, rent-to-own, debt consolidation) and attacks the illusions and downright deceptions of the American dream, which encourages nothing but overspending and massive amounts of debt. "Don't even consider keeping up with the Joneses," Ramsey declares in his typically candid style. "They're broke "</p> <p><em>The Total Money Makeover</em> isn't theory. It works every single time. It works because it is simple. It works because it gets to the heart of the money problems: you.</p>

Dave Ramsey is an American financial 'guru', but don't let the fact that he is American put you off! The steps he outlines in this book work - wherever in the world you live - and as he says, it's Grandma's and God's way of handling money. He has lots of free resources, however to get a great in depth look at how the 'baby steps' work, this is the book you need! I can't recommend it highly enough. If you are struggling with debt, this is the book for you!
Although written primarily for an American readership, readers from other parts of the world will benefit greatly from this very helpful, practical and wise book. The author, Ramsey, shares what he calls seven "baby steps" to help us achieve financial freedom. These steps are: (1) Put aside 1,000 cash in a beginner emergency fund; (2) Use the debt snowball to pay off all debts but the house mortgage; (3) save for a fully funded emergency fund of 3 to 6 months of expense; (4) invest 15% of your household income into retirement planning; (5) start saving for your children's college education; (6) pay off your home mortgage early; and (7) grow your wealth and give generously. Ramsey very persuasively convinces the readers that having debt is a form of slavery and would rob us and our families of the blessings that God intends for us. We should own our money (and not the other way round) and let our money work hard to grow so that we can achieve financial independence and freedom. I wish I have read this book earlier. But it's never too late to put the principles into practice now. Highly recommended.
I wish I had read Dave Ramsay's Total Money Makeover 10 years ago! But it's not too late, we are starting now and by following Dave's guidelines will be debt free and will save for retirement and university for the kids and have an emergency fund for unplanned expenses. It is freeing us up to serve God more now and into the future.
