Life as Kim and Krickitt Carpenter knew it was shattered beyond recognition on November 24, 1993. Two months after their marriage, a devastating car wreck left Krickitt with a massive head injury and in a coma for weeks.

When she finally awoke, she had no idea who Kim was. With no recollection of their relationship and while Krickitt experienced personality changes common to those who suffer head injuries, Kim realized the woman he had married essentially died in the accident.

And yet, against all odds, but through the common faith in Christ that sustained them, Kim and Krickitt fell in love all over again. Even though Kim stood by Krickitt through the darkest times a husband can ever imagine, he insists, "I'm no hero. I made a vow."

Now available in trade paper with a new chapter and photo insert, The Vow is the true story that inspired the major motion picture of the same name starring Rachel McAdams (The Notebook), Channing Tatum (Dear John), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park), and Academy Award winner Jessica Lange.

The Truth Revealed
4 stars By Margot, Aug 07 2012
Having seen the secularly popular movie "The Vow," which was based on the story of Kim and Krickitt Carpenter, it was really interesting to learn the Christian reality behind it. Their's is a story of perseverance, of commitment, of determination and of love. In a day when many take the covenant of marriage lightly, it is the very personal story of a man and a woman who took it very seriously. Apart from being very entertaining, it is also a story offering great encouragement and hope to any married couple facing relationship issues. If the Carpenters can persevere and survive against all the opposition they faced, anyone can. And, unlike the movie, they give all the glory to God. It kept me reading to the very end.

Inspiring true story
4 stars By Gail :), Jul 26 2012
This is a really inspiring true story of a marriage put under enormous strain when after only a few months of marriage, they are in a major car accident. Not only do they have both have many physical hurdles to overcome,by far the most challenging is that Krikett the wife has permanent memory loss and has no memory of her husband and their life together before the accident. The book does not gloss over the difficulties and tells honestly the pain and losses they both endure. It is very well written and easy to read. a great encouragement to all married couples of the importance of keeping our vows through all the ups and downs of life.
