I bought this because I absolutely loved Keller's 'My rock My refuge' devotional on the Psalms. This devotional has the same appealing format of a single page for each day of the year. Unlike most devotionals, the bible verses are printed within the text, which is followed by commentary, then a written prayer. The content of Proverbs directs the content of the devotions, making this book focus on the wise living suggested in the title. I love this book too and as a busy mum of 4, find that I can read this every morning because it is an achievable amount of words to consume with my morning coffee. I appreciate that I get bible, explanation and words of prayer even on the days when I can hardly string two words together myself. Highly recommended.
This devotional is anchored on the book of Proverbs, and is thematically explored here. I personally would have preferred more insights to prayer on the reflected themes. This book is structured according to themes and verses from Proverbs, so it is useful if you desire to study the word that way. Just a minor gribe-as this book is a hard cover copy, page turning was a little difficult. I prefer it when the pages can lay flat instead of having to hold it down with both hands.
Proverbs is God's book of wisdom and it teaches us the essence for Christian life and practice. In this 365-day devotional, Timothy Keller offers readers a fresh, inspiring lesson for every day of the year based on different passages within the Book of Proverbs. With his trademark knowledge, Keller unlocks the wisdom within the poetry of Proverbs and guides us toward a new understanding of what it means to live a moral life. As a busy professional I love that the text distils biblical truth simply and even offers you a prayer to start you off when you spiritual 'tank'God's Wisdom for Navigating Life is a book that readers will be able to turn to every day, year after year, to cultivate a deeper, more fulfilling relationship with God. This makes a perfect companion to Keller's devotional on the Psalms, The Songs of Jesus feels on empty. This text is not just a great gift but an investment in your faith journey.
