Meet the Author

Dee Henderson

Pastor's daughter Dee Henderson is a lifelong resident of Illinois, USA, and currently resides in Springfield. She believes that marketing books should be about the stories rather than the writer, so she keeps a low profile compared to many authors. Her background is in mathematics and computing science (B.Sc 1988) and she had a high paying job as an engineer before she moved into full-time writing in 1996. Her technical expertise has given her an unusually keen insight into the structural aspects of storytelling. The results are plain to see; since 1999, Dee has produced two bestselling fiction series - the acclaimed O'Malley series and Uncommon Heroes - as well as eleven stand-alone titles.

Dee's books brilliantly mix suspense and romance, and her characters undergo varied and interesting faith journeys that are integrated skillfully into the storylines. Dee's work has won or been nominated for several prestigious industry awards including the RWA's RITA Award, the Christy Award, the ECPA Gold Medallion, the Holt Medallion, the National Readers' Choice Award, and the Golden Quill.

Courageous
4 stars By Bri , Jun 30 2016
I love the way that Amanda loves her sisters so much that she's willing to disappear in order to protect them and always puts others before herself. It shows an incredible amount of love and sacrifice which is evident in her decisions.
You are left hanging until the end and while the romance is typical abd predictable, the crime side of the story keeps you hooked and confused until the end.

A satisfying read
4 stars By Nellee, Mar 08 2008
"The Witness" is another cleverly written thriller by well known author Dee Henderson. Based around the reappearance of a woman who disappeared after witnessing the murder of her boyfriend, this book follows her journey to put the past to rest, unfortunately involving her family and friends in the process.

One of the things I enjoy most about Dee Henderson's writing is the way that she can intertwine a number of stories in the one book, and you never know which is the one that will end up being the main thread. She also always has a perfect balance of romance, suspense and action which is a great combination for female lovers of fiction in particular.

This was one of the most satisfying books of hers that I have read so far as it was consistently gripping, suspenseful with no hint of the answers to come, and the ending was tied together nicely which I always appreciate!

A great book to start on if you want to try Dee Henderson out, and a refreshing change to the various series she has written if you are looking for a change.

The Witness
4 stars By Narelle Mollet, Apr 12 2007
I have been awaiting the release of Dee Henderson's THE WITNESS with much anticipation, having been enthralled by both her O'Malley and Uncommon Heroes series. This release, through a new publisher Tyndale, is the first for Henderson in three years and my expectations were high. While this book is quite different to her previous series, many elements remain the same and I was not disappointed.

The story revolves around three sisters, two of whom discover the mixed blessing of inheriting millions, together with shocking secrets about their father that are publicly unveiled. Amanda Griffin, the oldest sibling, is believed dead by her sisters after witnessing a murder and going into hiding eight years ago to escape a man consumed with revenge. This man now sees Amanda's sisters as a way to lure her out of hiding.

Amanda's dramatic chance encounter with the compassionate and meticulous Police Chief Luke Granger and his dedicated homicide detectives, Connor Black and Caleb Marsh, changes everything. The lives of these detectives quickly become entwined with the three Griffin women and the mystery and trouble surrounding them. But will Amanda ever be free of the fear that governs her life and will her sisters survive the vendetta against them?

Henderson has penned another first-rate suspense novel which draws the reader into the story completely from the first page. She releases clues with a deft hand, subtly enticing the reader into the tension of the mystery and the emotions of the characters. Although the reader's connection with the characters is not as strong as in her previous books, her character development remains a highlight of her work, portraying genuine people being tested to their limits - emotionally, physically and spiritually. Her minor characters are also well developed and add to the power of the story rather than being a distraction.

Dee does not shy away from tragedy and explores the impact of injustice, fear and grief experienced by the Griffin women and their protectors. The developing romances in the story are engaging and add depth and joy to the story in true Dee Henderson style. This is a stand-alone title, however there is clearly scope for a sequel in the future.
