Gary Chapman writes, "Most people spend far more time in preparation ^for their vocation than they do in preparation for marriage." No wonder the divorce ^rate hovers around fifty percent. Bestselling author and marriage counselor Gary ^Chapman hopes to change that with his newest book. Gary, with more than 35 years ^of experience counseling couples, believes that divorce is the lack of preparation ^for marriage and the failure to learn the skills of working together as intimate ^teammates.

So he put together this practical little book, packed with wisdom ^and tips that will help many develop the loving, supportive and mutually beneficial ^marriage men and women long for. It's the type of information Gary himself wished ^he had before he got married. The material lends itself to heart-felt discussions ^by dating or engaged couples. To jump-start the exchanges, each short chapter includes ^insightful "Talking it Over" questions and suggestions. And, the book includes information ^on interactive websites as well as books that will enhance the couples experience.

Dr. ^Chapman even includes a thought-provoking appendix. By understanding and balancing ^the five key aspects of life, dating couples can experience a healthy relationship. ^A revealing learning exercise is included at the end.

GARY CHAPMAN, PhD, is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling ^The 5 Love Languages. With over 30 years of counseling experience, he has ^the uncanny ability to hold a mirror up to human behavior, showing readers not just ^where they go wrong, but also how to grow and move forward. Dr. Chapman holds BA ^and MA degrees in anthropology from Wheaton College and Wake Forest University, ^respectively, MRE and PhD degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, ^and has completed postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina and Duke ^University. I realise now that I don't know anything about being a wife. I finished this book in 1 day. I couldn't put it down. My husband and I have been completely different people. I hope it helps us see and helps us to repair our marriage.
I would really recommend every couple reading this before marriage, not when marriage is having problems.

essential pre-marital literature
5 stars By LJ, Oct 21 2017
If you are considering taking the plunge then this book is for you. it pulls back the curtains of disillusionment that is clouded by excitement and amore and makes you really consider the reality of your union so that you are able to place both feet on solid rock. In a time where marriages are merely a short term arrangment, divorce rates are exceptionally high and domestic violence is in the media every day a little bit of education can go a long way

A MUST read for anyone considering marriage.
5 stars By Andrea, Jun 15 2017
I picked up this book hoping It will arm me with information as my husband and l embark on counselling. It has certainly done that. Firstly it made me very aware that l just don't know how to do relationships and I've been doing it all wrong. It has not only given me hope but the tools to help turn my relationship around just by making changes in me. I recommend this book to anyone considering marriage, anyone struggling in their marriage or anyone just wanting to make their marriage better. If only I knew this stuff before. If you are about to get married this book will kick you off to the best start and skip all the heartache that can come with learning to compromise and live with each other.
