About "Up Out of Egypt"
UP OUT OF EGYPT is the personal story of Helen Marsh: a young, rebellious girl, who from the age of 12 was in search of fun. By the time she was 14, she became sick and when hospitalized, it was discovered that she not only suffered from glandular fever, but that she was pregnant. To cover her wrong she lied again, telling her parents she had been raped. The police were called in and one lie led to another... When finally the truth about her life and lifestyle was revealed, and the mess she had created, her baby was given up for adoption; the law said she would never see her baby again. What pain and trauma she and her family suffered, yet faithfully and lovingly they stood by her and saw her through. Sadly she did not learn from her hard lesson. Pregnant again at 15, and married at 16, the struggle now moved to teenage marriage, and the birth of three children in 3 years. But God endured, and Helen is not only still married to the same man she married at 16 years of age, but she also reunited with her adopted-out daughter. UP OUT OF EGYPT reveals God's Grace, forgiveness, redemption and reconciliation. It is a story of His redeeming love.

The story of Helen's life could easily be a novel- however, in this case it's all true. Helen tells her journey in such an honest way that (even though the circumstances may vary somewhat) anyone could easily relate to the struggles she faces. A fantastic piece of work that encourages us to hold tight to God in the hard times and clearly demonstrates His goodness and faithfulness!
Thankyou Helen for writing this book. I read it with much interest and quite a few tears too. It was great the way you shared so honestly about the joys, pain and sorrows you and others close to you have been through. That must have been very difficult at times to write about. Your story is such a blessing to others! I enjoyed the way you included humorous anecdotes too. No doubt, 'Up out of Egypt' will bless many lives. This book has certainly blessed me! Now I can pass it on to the next person to read.
This is a very thought-provoking and true story of a young life and the possible dangers and consequences of immature decisions. God's great love and care is shown in the years that followed in the life of Helen Marsh. Her honesty and openness shows how God can and does change lives when He is allowed to take control. Discouragements as well joys are revealed as challenges are faced and the love of Helen's family strengthens her resolve to follow her Christian convictions. "Up Out of Egypt" is well recommended to readers of any age or background circumstances. (From Pat Clifford)
Helen's journey is a continual struggle of trying to find herself in the midst of the turmoil of her life. In her book 'Up out of Egypt' she does not cover over the sins of her past but she portrays, eloquently, the faithfulness of God to forgive those sins when we are prepared to seek His forgiveness. It also shows that as a child of God He rewards His children greatly.
Thouroughly enjoyed this read. Its such an honest and heartfelt account of Helens life thus far. Revealed, are her failures and her truimpths over adoption, infidelity, self esteem issues and much more. So many different age brackets could relate to many aspects of this book. It assured me of Gods love and forgiveness despite my failures also. "Up Out of Egypt" exposes the struggles but more importantly, the victories. I recommend to both young and mature readers.
