While visiting Mr. Whittaker at Whit's End Soda Shoppe, Beth and Patrick find a mysterious letter in the Imagination Station requesting a Viking sunstone. The letter is old and says that someone named Albert will be imprisoned if the sunstone isn't found. Mr. Whittaker sends cousins Patrick and Beth to Greenland circa 1000. On their quest for the sunstone, the cousins meet Vikings Erik the Red and Leif Eriksson - and find the sunstone as they join Leif on his first voyage to North America. But the adventure is just beginning, for when they return to Mr. Whittaker's workshop with the sunstone, there is another note waiting for them, requesting a silver goblet. Ages 5-9yrs

Meet the Authors

Marianne Hering

Marianne Hering, former editor of Focus on the Family Clubhouse magazine, has written hundreds of magazine articles, and numerous fiction books for children as well as the Tyndale published, Focus on the Family Clubhouse Activity Book. Currently, she is a freelance writer living in Colorado with her husband and three children.

Paul Mccusker

Paul McCusker is the creative content director for Focus on the Family. He has been a writer of fiction, nonfiction, and drama since 1979. His work includes over forty published novels, full-length plays, dramatic sketch collections, and song lyrics.

For the Adventures in Odyssey series alone, he has written over 200 half-hour radio episodes, eighteen novels, and two screenplays for the best-selling animated videos.

He has dramatized many classics for Focus on the Family Radio Theatre, including A Christmas Carol and Jan Karon's At Home in Mitford. He also wrote and directed the Peabody Award–winning Bonhoeffer: The Cost of Freedom and created the highly acclaimed Father Gilbert Mysteries series.

The novellas Epiphany and The Faded Flower, and more plus non-fiction, and co-authored You Say Tomato with best-selling British writer Adrian Plass. Epiphany was nominated for the ECPA Gold Medallion Award

The Voyage with the Vikings is good because it is a fictional story, but it teaches you about God. It is also good because it has lots of adventures. I think it is good for girls and boys.

Enjoyable fiction for young readers

I read this book aloud to my younger siblings, who loved it.
They were captivated all the way through, and could hardly bear interruptions!
The adventures of 8 year old Beth and her cousin Patrick, Christian and enjoyable. 
Great for young readers or as a read aloud, perfect gift!

Brilliant for readers!

This is an excellent start to a series. My son loves the large type and pictures throughout.  Great use of imagination with good clean fun and also learning lessons about faith!  I highly Reccomended you get your early reader into this series!
